DW Drum Workshop CP5100 5000 Series Throne Review

DW Drum Workshop CP5100 5000 Series Throne
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this throne for 8 weeks and am quite pleased. It is solidly built, sturdy in use, easy to adjust, infinitely adjustable, comfortable, and good looking.
I have not had occasion to beat it up with a lot of moving/gigging, but think that the nice build construction would hold up well.
For around $100, it seems to be a good buy. I did not find cheaper thrones that did not sacrifice significant areas of quality, nor did I find more expensive thrones that added features that seemed to matter to me.
I bought my unit direct from Amazon without trying one out before, and can say that I've been entirely pleased from the moment it showed up.
If you need a solid, comfy throne and $100 fits your budget, I can't see going wrong with this one. (Do, however, note the minimum height on this as well as other thrones; if you are under 5'6 or want something low, this one may be too high.)

After struggling to keep track of countless cheap (or free) drum keys, I decided to spring for this guy and it's simply fantastic, inasmuch as a drum key can be. It's solid and has a nice weight. The quick-release drops it off the keychain with ease, and unlike the others, I never lose this one.

Kickport Soundport for Bass Drum - White Review

Kickport Soundport for Bass Drum - White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm in the middle of pre-production for a band and had heard about this item. A drummer I know had used one of these and it's been on my list for the past year. I finally picked one up at Guitar Center. In the studio, I've had the experience of duct-taping around the lip of the hole in the front of a bass drum and noticed the improved tone through creating a more substantial hole for the air to exit the drum. This affected the tone of the drum in going from flabby, to tight. The choice in the studio for a drummer has always been- with out without hole in resonant head on kick. So I took this to rehearsal and opened the pack. The directions seem pretty straight-forward. When seeing how you have to roll back the rubber flange before inserting this thing into the hole on the resonant head, I immediately thought, "Why isn't this a two-piece unit?" The back sleeve should snap onto the front flange for easy application. The company provides a reinforcement ring that is cut to a larger diameter than the kickport. The concept is that you place the adhesive side of the reinforcement ring onto the resonant head around the hole. Slit the head in 3 places up to the reinforcement and then force the kickport in to that hole. The struggle is pretty incredible. Without the reinforcement ring, you'd easily tear the head. The problem is, with the reinforcement ring, you are committed to only use this kickport on THAT head alone. Change the head, and you have to buy a new kickport- unless Kickport expects that they can sell you additional reinforcement rings. Only one comes in the pack and when it's used, you're done. Making the kickport a two-piece unit would make it reusable on ANY resonant you desired to.

DW Drum Workshop 3000 SERIES DOUBLE PEDAL
Average Reviews:

I have owned a 5000, 5002 and now the 3002. I don't see much difference between the 3000 and 5000 and don't really feel much difference either. This is a great pedal for an amateur drummer who does not want to spend a ton of cash but wants the speed and feel of top notch equipment.

DW Rack Clamp 1.5" Review

DW Rack Clamp 1.5

I have a DW rack I purchased a couple of years ago. The quality of just about every single piece is incredible. Not only functional, but cosmetically it's gorgeous. Even the memory lock rings hinge open so there's no need to remove any part to add a clamp or memory lock ring. Impeccable quality and I'm sure it'll last forever.

DW Drums 9000 Series Single Bass Drum Pedal with Bag Review

DW Drums 9000 Series Single Bass Drum Pedal with Bag
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've been a drummer for 20 years, and this by far is the best bass pedal I have ever played on. I owned the 5000 series double bass pedal for a long time. However, being that I really don't play double bass, I recently thought of going back to a signal bass pedal. As you probably know, a double bass pedal limits how close you can get your Hi-hat to your snare and I was getting tired of that limitation. So I pulled the trigger and went with the DW flagship 9000 series single pedal. This thing is a tank and a dream to play on. I also changed my 5000 series 2-leg Hi-hat to the 9000 series 3-leg Hi-hat. Love them both, kind of wish I had made this move years ago.

The ONLY thing I did was remove the handle & wheels. The 3" cheapies, were more trouble than they were worth. Bought a $30 folding dolly/cart from Lowes as an alternative to those useless wheels, and the too-short handle.

Very impressed with this hi hat stand I'd recommend it to any drummer. The price was great and the quality and functionality is incredible. Works very fast and will satisfy all your needs and musical styles for sure. Honestly, after purchasing this hi hat stand, it's almost seems like I purchased new hi hat cymbals as well because this stand really brings the cymbals to life and creates some great sounds no matter what you are looking for. Definitely a must have for any drummer.

Pacific Drums by DW Z5 Shell Pack - Carbon Black Review

Pacific Drums by DW Z5 Shell Pack - Carbon Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've had this kit for several years now, and while it certainly does not sound as nice as more expensive kits, it could be a whole lot worse. And for the price, it's excellent. Potential buyers should note that this is a shell pack - it only includes the shells of the drums (and stock heads, I believe). Additional hardware, such as a snare stand, hi-hat stand, or cymbal stands. This may not sound very nice, but it is in fact EXCELLENT.
Why? The cymbals and heads that come with 'starter' drum kits are terrible. I still use the stock heads that came with my drums (I bought the full set - not a shell pack), but I literally could not stand the cymbals. The money you save by purchasing a shell pack is an investment towards the materials you need (and will actually USE). Good heads (Remo, Evans) multiply the quality of a drum sound. Stock heads make them sound dull. Cymbals that match the quality of this kit (Paiste pst3, Sabian B8, Zildjian ZXT) are a necessity, and they will cost more than the cost of this kit (this cymbal/drum cost ratio is true of almost any quality level).
The next step up from this kit, say an intermediate kit, will cost a fair amount more. The step up from there will be exponential. This kit can last a long, long time. As I mentioned earlier, it has lasted me two years. The quality is excellent. Granted, I take good care of it, but still, the toms are stable (but easily adjustable with a drum key), the bass stays in one spot (and is loud with a nice thump), the snare still pops, and it's shiny!
Just remember that it is a shell pack, and will require:
- a bass pedal
- a snare stand
- at least a hi-hat and one cymbal (like a ride/crash)
- a cymbal stand for each cymbal you buy except the hi-hat, which will require a hi-hat stand
- you'll probably want a throne (a seat for playing the drums)
- a pair of quality sticks

Drum Workshop CP9700 9000 Series Heavy Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand Review

Drum Workshop CP9700 9000 Series Heavy Duty Straight/Boom Cymbal Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this today to replace my smaller 800 series PDP stand. I wanted to go with the heavy duty since i have an 18" crash and a 8" tom attached.
It took me awhile after setting up, but there was a rattling that i had to troubleshoot. I ended up having to drop the smallest tube down while extending the middle tube. It led me to believe that the mid tube was vibrating inside the large tube with each contact.
Now that it's been troubleshot, it's a great heavy duty stand that feels rock solid.
Recommended.
Next purchase will be the 9000DW hi-hat stand

This throne is maybe one of the best values for money spent on a place to park yourself. Super sturdy construction and very comfortable. I'm a big guy at 270lbs and this completely supports me without any problems. I never tilt and this never loosens as I play. You won't sit down wrong on this one with the traditional, round seat. Not like the cycle seats. Get one as soon as you can!!!
