Gibraltar 9608 Professional Round Throne Review

Gibraltar 9608 Professional Round Throne

Needed a new throne and I saw this one here on Amazon, I thought why not. I was about to spend ~$160 on a high end one (pork pie, dw, etc.) then I saw this one for almost half that...it's a no brainer. It's got everything you need in a drum throne without a ridiculous price tag. Threaded height adjustment, military grade legs and hardware (super thick and heavy), and it's really comfy, what more could you ask for. Bottomline is I wanted a rock solid throne that is comfy with threaded height adjustment and I got just that....for half the price of what I expected to pay. Sure it's not too fancy looking and doesn't have an super thick padded seat with sparkles and zebra print but it's strong and wont creep down when you play...that's all that matters. On top of that Amazon came through, as always, with LIGHTNING fast shipping, it was at my door the NEXT DAY!

Signature Music Motorcycle Style Drum Throne Heavy Duty 7187 Review

Signature Music Motorcycle Style Drum Throne Heavy Duty 7187
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
So i have been playing drums for about 10 years now and have used many different thrones. My last throne was a pretty standard Tama throne and every day I sit on this throne I miss my old Tama. This throne spins for height adjustment, which at first you think isn't that bad but after time goes on you realize that it is more of a pain then what it is worth. To get it to the right height you have to sit over it and spin it like a retard. You're better off just buying something else...
THE WORST PART ABOUT THIS IS:
I was playing my drums one day and I leaned over to pick something up and the mounts underneath the seat that is connected to the hardware snapped like a twig. This was way beyond repair. I am by no means a small guy (230 lbs) but my old Tama throne took a beating 10X worse then this seat and never even flinched. The motorcycle style doesn't do anything special either. Stick with the standard round seat.

Gibraltar 9608OS Professional Oversized Throne Review

Gibraltar 9608OS Professional Oversized Throne
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Got to use this throne on a gig where all drums were provided. I had brought my Tama stool, just in case, but fell in love with this Gibralter immediately. I've been playing for 45 years, from 2 to 6 nights a week, and have used a variety of thrones. First thing I noticed about this one is the comfort: deeply cushioned, wide, and perfectly sculpted for support, I found zero fatigue in the hour-long sets my current band plays. The slightly flocked material feels soft, grips well, and does not add noticeable warmth. The stability is outstanding as well; if you're really concerned about minimizing movement, you can lock down the seat fairly securely. But even in loose, swivel mode, there's virtually no side-to-side rocking. The stand is very robust, to say the least, and features a nice memory lock system. Only downside would be weight: this baby's a good 2 pounds heavier than any throne I've used.
Very highly recommended

Stagg DT-32 Drum Throne Review

Stagg DT-32 Drum Throne
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'm the world's greatest imaginary drummer... thanks to Rock Band.
I purchased this Drum Throne just for Rock Band on the Xbox; using the couch or our office chair wasn't working too well. For the price, we couldn't pass this up.
This is the first Drum Throne I've ever used and for our needs, its more than perfect.
You can adjust the height by removing a screw from the center rod; it works well for people of all heights. My only real complaint is that the adjustment doesn't really lock into place. The adjustment screw just sits in a wedge within the base. You can tighten the screw, but it often comes out. Because of this, if you need to move the stool, you have to take it from the bottom instead of just grabbing it by the seat. Its definitely not a deal breaker, though.
Having said that... its light, easy to store and even easier to setup.
While it works excellent for fake rocking out, I, unfortunately, cannot comment on actually drumming.

Stagg Drum Throne, Single Braced- black Review

Stagg Drum Throne, Single Braced- black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This seat does have some things going for it. It's lightweight and reasonably sturdy. Unfortunately, the way it is assembled, the seat DOES NOT SPIN, which is a problem for a drummer! You could leave the set screw loose and it would spin, but then you would risk having the seat fall off the frame. It is also not easy to adjust for height -- it has a series of holes an inch apart on the center post. Pick one and put the bolt through it. This is secure, but not terribly convenient if you need to change it.
If you intend to use this in an application that does not require you to change direction while seated, it will work fine. The problem is that it is marketed as a DRUM throne. I fixed this somewhat by denting the center post a little, so that the set screw doesn't dig in but still keeps the seat from coming off. This allows me to rotate about 20 degrees to either side, but (1) I shouldn't have to do this, and (2) it's still really not enough for drumming.
If you play congas or bongos or other percussion that's in a relatively confined area, this will work fine. Don't buy it if you intend to sit behind a kit.

Cello Stool: adjustable from 13" to 17" Review

Cello Stool: adjustable from 13 to 17
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
It's a handy little stool. One that is great for people who need to not sit so high off of the ground. It's not the most durable. I use it for playing guitar, though and tend to move quite a bit while I'm playing. Movement causes the thumbscrew to loosen and the seat swivels by the end of a couple of songs - nothing dangerous. Given that the seating platform is cardboard, I doubt it will last for long. It's inexpensive for the quality. The company ships promptly.

Gibraltar 9608MB Cloth Motocycle Seat With Back Rest Throne
This to me is not the most comfortable throne i've ever sat on.
Be careful you can tip on this,It would be more stable with more legs.
Not bad for threaded height, but should have went with a hydraulic seat.
Glad I kept my old throne, will switch back and forth, might use this for an office
chair.LoL.
Back rest was uncomfortable to me,should be wider.
The only good thing about this was,it was a breeze to put together.
By the way, this thing is really heavy.Biker seat could be alot more comfy.
I'm pretty dissatified with this, but I suspect I'll get over it.

Gibraltar 6608 Throne Moto Style Review

Gibraltar 6608 Throne Moto Style
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I had been using a broken throne for over a year. It wasn't mounted well since it had broke and was wobbly and all of that. I finally realized it was time to get a new one. I did some research and found this Gibraltar one. I have been an extremely satisfied Gibraltar hardware customer for years. I have almost all Gibraltar Hardware for my entire set, as well as one of their racks. So I figured I'd try this throne. After having it for a few weeks now, I can't believe I waited so long to get a new one. This one is super rock solid built. Very sturdy, and extremely comfortable. Adjusts pretty easily, but once adjusted, it will never let you down by moving or readjusting. It not only has a regular tightening knob, but also a seperate additional locking mechanism that you can hand tighten with your drum key (same one you would use to tighten the drum heads, hardware, etc). This throne does not wobble, tip, or let you down even under the hardest playing experiences. Whether you a hard rock or metal guy who needs a super strong throne so you can give it all your weight so your legs can give your double bass drum pedals a work out, or you are a jazz muscian that just needs a comfortable balanced seat, you cannot possible go wrong with this throne.

Pacific Drums and Percussion 700 Series Drum Throne Review

Pacific Drums and Percussion 700 Series Drum Throne
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this to play drums on Rockband (Xbox360) instead of sitting on a wooden barstool (which is uncomfortable and non-adjustable). This stool padding is NICE and the adjustability is via a bolt-through design. Therefore, it's not easy to quickly adjust for different playing heights (as the bolt has to be removed and inserted in a different hole). Although, it provides a more secure platform and won't 'creep/slide' down over time. It's plenty strong enough for me (215 lbs) and all my friends of various weights. It feels like it would hold someone much heavier with no problem. It's not whimpy at all, but still light. I like the tripod leg design because it provides more open area than a 4-leg design.

Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne Review

Universal Percussion UP197 Round Double-Braced Drum Throne
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Contrary to the product description, this stool is not heavy duty. The actual seat itself is built on very flimsy plywood, and any sort of bad posture or leaning forward will crack it and punch the metal supports through it. I weigh 170lbs and this product didn't go through unwarranted use and abuse. I sat down, heard the plywood snap, and then I had a waste disposal issue instead of a drum throne. Some metal reinforcement would have been nice, since as it turned out I paid money for a thin plank on some wobbly legs.
These legs are also hard to adjust to optimum length, as the retention screw doesn't hold anything in place for long. I used Loctite to compensate somewhat. I prefer not to have to crimp metal or do extra work on a chair that should be good out of the box; "Some assembly required" shouldn't mean "You will need to fix this shaky, rattling piece of work yourself and wait for the day it breaks on you" ... every time I sat down and the chair sank an inch or two on its own or felt like I was on a shaky teacup ride, was one more instance I should have bought something else.
If you can find something somewhere else, go for it. If you don't plan on using this every day, you could probably get away with it. Between 2006 when I wrote this review and whenever it is now, Universal Percussion may have made improvements to this product, which is laudable, but I won't know because I will never buy this thing again. To date, this is the ONLY chair that broke on me sitting down. I certainly hope this doesn't put you on the floor.
