He LOVES it...and Mommy and Daddy LOVE the quality of it! He has hours of fun "rocking out" on it with his microphone pulled up next to him so he can sing and drum at the same time. This set is deff better quality then the 1st Act stuff we saw at Toys R Us. We are glad we held out and found this set on Amazon. I think he will enjoy this set for a LONG time!

Click Here to see more reviews about: De Rosa DRM312-BK Children's 3 Piece 12 Inch Drum Set with Chair, Black

Get 12% OFF

Click here for more information about De Rosa DRM312-BK Children's 3 Piece 12 Inch Drum Set with Chair, Black
Kathy M. In order to create a song, you must do the following:
1. Turn on unit
2. Press "Menu" button
3. Scroll to "Song" menu item
4. Click a function button to select
5. Using the data wheel, scroll down to "Create"
6. Click a function button to select
7. Use data wheel to enter name of song one laborious letter at a time (optional step: you can forgo naming a song and it will be named "Song023" etc.)
8. Click "Home" button
9. Click "Rec" buttons for tracks 1 and 2 (assuming you want to record in stereo).
10. Click the record transport and play transport buttons together, to start the recording process (I'm assuming you have already set the input levels and want to use the built-in mics)
11. Click the stop transport button when you are done recording your song
12. Repeat steps 9-11 if you wish to overdub another voice or instrument on tracks 3 and/or 4.
13. Click "Menu" button, then "Play" to listen to playback
14. Click stop button at end of song
15. Click "In/Out" button
16. Click function key "Out" to set the out point
17. Click "Rec Mode" button
18. Using data wheel, scroll down to "Master Rec"
19. Click function key to select
20. Click the record transport and play transport buttons together, to start the recording process for the "master" track (this is simply a stereo mixdown of the four tracks)
21. Click "Rec Mode" button
22. Using data wheel, scroll up to "Multi Track"
23. Click function key to select
24. Click "Menu" button
25. Scroll using data wheel to "Wave"
26. Click function key to select
27. Scroll down to "Export Master"
28. Click function key to select
29. Use data wheel to enter name of song one letter at a time (optional step: you can forgo naming a song and it will be named "Song023" etc.)
30. Click function key to execute exporting of the master stereo tracks to the FAT partition of the SD card within the unit.
31. Attach unit to your computer via the supplied USB cable
32. Open folder to view the files on the Tascam
33. Click the "Wave" folder to find the master tracks you just created.
34. Go to a file conversion program to convert the ".wav" file to an ".mp3" file, so you can email it to your friends, etc.
Whew! Not exactly a quick, friendly, intuitive process!
What you want is a two-click process to start recording (as on my old mini-disk recorder), and then be able to connect to a computer to copy the file and convert. There are an awful lot of extra steps involved, but of course you are talking about four tracks, not just stereo, so there's just no getting around the necessity of the mix-down/mastering. What is a little odd and annoying are those extra steps to export the master to the FAT partition of the Tascam SD card (steps 27-30, above).
Also, since each song file must be loaded before you can listen to it, there is no way to play songs one after the other unattended, or zip quickly between songs like you can do on an iPod or CD player, to audition which is which (thus naming them is critical).
Anyway, a word to the wise if you want something quick and easy. You pay for the ability to make a multi-track recording. On the other hand, if you want something with great quality recording sound, ample storage (a 16 GB SDHC card gives you 1300 track minutes in the 8 GB partition you can create (the largest possible), very nice and senstive built-in stereo mics,
and something you can use to create an excellent mini-demo, then this will definitely do the trick.
TIP: Purchase a PSP-100 power adaptor. It is made for the Sony Playstation and is identical to the more costly PS-P520 Tascam says you have to buy (i.e., 5V, 2A, correct plug and polarity). I paid $5 for mine, not $30!

Click Here to see more reviews about: Tascam DP-004 Pocketstudio Digital Recorder

Smaller than a paperback book, the 4-track Tascam DP-004 Pocketstudio digital recorder is simple enough for students, songwriters and musicians who want to keep their recording process simple and creative.

Offering four tracks of CD-quality digital recording, the DP-004 can record two sources at once to the included 1 GB Secure Digital (SD) memory card. A built-in stereo condenser microphone makes it simple to record anywhere you go, perfect for concerts, rehearsals and songwriting inspirations. A pair of 1/4-inch jacks on the rear panel allow you to connect your own microphones or sources--you can even switch the inputs to guitar level for recording.

You can build up your arrangement until you've filled up all four tracks, and the Bounce feature allows you to consolidate tracks and make room for more overdub layers. The drums were bad for band usage. They were small. After all, with a little practice, our band turned out pretty good. Then we went up stairs for a snack and when we came back one five year old kid turned the drum that was needed badly for harmony and rhythm into a piece of unnecessary crap. We tried everything; scotch (the tape and not the drink), duck tape, glue, but the little kid ruined the drum forever and ever. Our band was ruined because of one little five year old kid. Who said little doesn't make a difference. We ended up performing in front of some friends, but since the drums were held up by chairs the drums didn't really make a sound. After that we tried to fix the drums, again. We didn't. As i was pulling over some money to fix the drums, i got a letter from amazon showing the new GP55. I checked on-line and i saw that these drums would be the perfect thing. Would you rather pay to fix a horrible type of drum or would you buy a great drum that costs the exact same price as fixing the bad one. The answer is easy. For 174.95 $ I could buy lord and empire of all 174.95$ drums ever. when i bought it came in a great organized pile. i took it all out and started jamming. This was a great move for me and I hope you find this review great for yourselves and the drums as helpful as they were for me.

Click Here to see more reviews about: GP55 Child Size Junior Drum Set with Seat, Sticks & Cymbals - Red

Get 38% OFF

Click here for more information about GP55 Child Size Junior Drum Set with Seat, Sticks & Cymbals - Red
Kathy M. In my opinion, based on thirty years of drums and percussion, they simply make the perfect drumstick.
What I love: 5B taper and weight. Round tips for great cymbal definition! Only 5B I can find with round tips! Sticks are balanced and matched - a hallmark of Vater quality. Also, they will last forever (longer than the Ahead aluminum sticks even).
What I despise: white paint. The paint chips off and gets everywhere. I have to clean my drums more often than normal due to paint chips being everywhere. It's so bad, I tossed two brand new pairs of these in the trash. The pair I used I tossed as well.
I'd love for Vater to offer these without the paint on them, that fault is so bad, I cannot overcome it. It you can deal with paint, then these are wonderful sticks with great balance, feel, weight, and definition on drums and cymbals.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Vater Percussion Gospel 5B Wood Tip

Get 16% OFF

Click here for more information about Vater Percussion Gospel 5B Wood Tip
Kathy M. It arrived well packed in bubble wrap and in good condition, except for a loosened knot which was easy enough to fix. This is a great drum to have fun with since one single instrument can produce so many different pitches instantly with just a squeeze of an arm. It will be a good classroom prop if we happen to discuss African tone languages and talking drums in phonetics class; it could also be used to illustrate how taut vocal folds produce a higher pitch and relaxed ones a lower pitch. Demonstrations of how to play the drum can be found on YouTube. It's the only one that goes to explain about having a good seating position so the drum rolls back into you so it's stable. Also shows different ways to do the same technique and encourages the viewer to try out different ways. As well the way that the rhythms are taught is very good.
I saw this DVD in the local shop in Sydney and bought it out of curiousity. I had resisted buying it on the internet because his website gave me the impression he was arrogant. But upon watching the DVD he presents as quite a friendly and personable guy. Also provides some interesting insights into how rhythms are structured.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Uncle Mafufo doumbek video

Click here for more information about Uncle Mafufo doumbek video
Kathy M. Oak is pretty plain, clear varnish. Pronounced Bo'Ron, it's an effective goat skinned drum made in Pakistan. It has a single bar in the back, few drums these days even put them in as they are not necessary to playing. Tipper is nice. I got two of these due to slow shipping and an approaching birthday. Both came from the same importer, laugh's on me. That's okay, we had another drummer in the family. Clue: If you try to cancel an order with Amazon and you are not sure it did, it didn't. Love the bo rons. Saga includes the Oklahoma Guarantee with every drum: If your drum breaks in half, you own both halves or something like that. I just retired a pair that I had played for over 100 4-hour shows (no exaggeration). Yes, they lost some of their rebound as I slowly wore them down but so do wood sticks. It is true that I had a pair where the tip broke off at the first gig, but that was ONCE and I've played through a few pairs of these now. So even if we looked at it from a very conservative standpoint, take the average amount of playing time I am getting out of a pair of Carbosticks, I would estimate it at 200 hours. Try that with wood. Just to put it in perspective, I am not a super heavy hitter but I am playing pop and rock for crowds of 100-300 bar/club patrons on a regular basis so I can't limp around either.
Pros:
Durability, ability to absorb or wick away sweat, nearly undetectable dust throw-off (as opposed to wood chips all over your gear).
Cons:
Price (though the deal I got on Amazon for multiple pairs was amazing), the occasional bad tip, rim shots definitely sound better with a good wood stick.
The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was that they don't really have a model with my favorite dimensions and the fact that I did snap the tip so quickly on that one stick.

Click Here to see more reviews about: Carbosticks, Carbon Fiber Drumsticks, 7ACTR, Light Weight, Red, Jazz & Pop - 6 PAIRS

Get 79% OFF

Click here for more information about Carbosticks, Carbon Fiber Drumsticks, 7ACTR, Light Weight, Red, Jazz & Pop - 6 PAIRS
Kathy M. It isn't as stable as I would like, thin molded plastic tends to twist when the case, so the clasps sometimes take a bit of encouragement to close correctly.
The first time I shipped this FedEx Ground, it totally fell apart. The handles cracked and fell off, the bumpers fell apart, and most important one of the wheels completely came off...
I did send it back to SBK for warranty repair/replacement, and they are in the process of making good on it.
It's probably great for storage and light transportation, but be careful if you pack it too much, won't do well with heavy loads.

Click Here to see more reviews about: SKB ATA Large Stand Case (48 x 16-1/4 x 13) with Wheels & Straps, TSA Latches, Over-molded Handle

Get 34% OFF

Click here for more information about SKB ATA Large Stand Case (48 x 16-1/4 x 13) with Wheels & Straps, TSA Latches, Over-molded Handle
Kathy M. I have a 5 piece kit, and all of the drum hardware, plus my seat and stick bag fit inside. Don't even have to break down my hi hat stand, which is nice. The internal tray is handy for auxiliary percussion storage.
However, I've used it for a few weeks, about 5 gigs, and already the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the case have broken off. Not a huge deal, but for this kind of cash I'd expect them to last longer. Also, I've had to make a repair/replacement of one of the inside straps. The clasp is quite cheap (plastic), and broke the first time I used it. Replaced it with a metal one from my previous case, which has worked fine.

Click Here to see more reviews about: SKB Trap X1 Large Drum Hardware Case, with Internal Tray and Wheels

Get 41% OFF

Click here for more information about SKB Trap X1 Large Drum Hardware Case, with Internal Tray and Wheels
Kathy M.
