It has three surfaces, the blue and black,with the blue being the softer of the two, the black being much firmer, and the opposite side of the pad with more of a spongy surface. which helps tremendously when doing endurance exercises. I highly recommend this pad.

(More customer reviews)To start... I'm a punk rock drummer that uses a lot of jazz influencing to change it up some. I hit heavy, but also have to finess it sometimes. Over all, going through a standard practice of giving only 80%, I would break at least one stick every time. They're extremely light weight which is nice, however the paint will bleed onto your heads and cymbals, especially if you play with white coated heads. For a beginner these may be good sticks to start with. For any one playing heavy music, prepare to fly through these sticks pretty fast.

I would recommend this pair to the Latin percussionist as well as the orchestral percussionist. The articulation and smooth sound produced for orchestral style playing is absolutely beautiful and continuous, and can be controlled very easily for soft rolls, crescendos, and even decrescendos. They are also just small enough that they can be held with one hand, freeing the other one up for other auxilliary percussive duties.

I had about 2" of head room at the top Which I filled with a piece of foam.The padding around the entire drum is awesome.It more than holds up to a few "drops" or slips down a hill.The back pack straps a comfortable as well;real nice if you have to
take longer hikes to the drum circle.Considering that most plain,average looking bags cost the same,if not more,the design and color are great bonus.I highly recommend(drummer of 20 years).

RegalTip 595N Regal Drum Brushes Whiskers Review

(More customer reviews)I never met a set of brushes that I didn't like and every set has a slightly different feel and sound. These nylon bristle brushes have a nice soft sound and feel and are excellent for backing a vocalist or soloist of any instrument that is playing pianissimo. For those playing on a coated batter head, nylon is easier on the coating as compared to wire. Wire brushes tend to wear the coating off. Wire brushes with bent tips work well too, and are easier on the coating, but I like the feel of the Whiskers better. The sound is lovely, and the nylon bristles have great resilience, which translates for me into a faster response for up tempo numbers. I have one pair that are over 20 years old that are slightly shorter and softer than the latest version, but both are excellent and highly recommended. The thing with brushes is to play with as many different ones as possible because they are all different and they are all fun. Think legato!

(More customer reviews)The pianist in my post-fusion group has baffled me for years. Through gigs and rehearsals, I was under constant scrutiny and direction. Commands of "STICK! BLUSH! CHOP! FIRE! ELVIN!" were continually streaming from his mouth.
This lack of sense is due (in theory) to a combination of his mixed heritage and a debilitating caffeine addiction. Prolonged exposure to lab rats may also be a contributing factor. But that is for another review altogether...LOL!
After said pianist presented the group with his 'F# Major Song', the group had hit a new low. As I was about walk out of rehearsal and ultimately sacrifice my spot in the band, I picked up a small set of chimes which I had just purchased. When the piano player heard me play these chimes along with one of his wandering composition, I had instant credibility as a real musician. Encouraged by this surprise change of heart, I purchased the product you are viewing, this luscious Treeworks 69 Bar Double-Wide Chime. Now the only words I hear coming from the piano are "CHIME! CHIME! CHIME!" This chime sound is so thick that I can use it solo for the whole set, except, of course, for the occasional CLAVE.
