Vic Firth Double sided, 6 Review

Vic Firth Double sided, 6
Average Reviews:

I got this pad for my birthday last october and to this day it has the same out-of-the-box feel. I mostly use the lighter colored side, in fact, i only really use the lighter colored side, the other side is harder than the lighter side so it gives more bounce, but even when i got this pad i used the light side. Plus the light side is much quieter than the dark side. I've always used it to warm up being shows or anywhere really. And its quite small so i always keep it with me. If i have ever some free time i pull out my sticks and play with the pad. I just wish it came with a small portable stand! oh well. I completely recommend getting this pad.

HQ 6in Reversable Practice Pad Review

HQ 6in Reversable Practice Pad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the perfect practice pad. It has two sides: the silenced, very bouncy one; and the harder, louder, more realistic-feeling one (in terms of snare). The 6 inch is also extremely portable. I highly suggest getting this one instead of the 12 inch one because the 12 inch one is humongous and unbelievably heavy. This also has no rim, which I like. Most of the people I talk to also agree that this is a great pad, so I know I'm not the only one who loves it!!

Hansenfutz Futz Practice Pedal - Portable Practice Kick Pedal Review

Hansenfutz Futz Practice Pedal - Portable Practice Kick Pedal
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I travel a lot so I have a portable practice pad which straps to my knee that I take with me on trips but tapping your feet on a flat floor is really tough on the ankles and doesn't come anywhere near approximating the feel of a bass or hi hat pedal. So I was excited when I saw this product and immediately sent away for it. I have not been disappointed.
First I must say that it doesn't exactly duplicate the feeling of a real pedal, but I think that would be impossible for such a compact product to do. The first priority is portability. There are pads you can buy and attach to a real drum bass pedal, but it's huge and clunky, not something you can tote around in your bag. This pedal is light but sturdy and is capable of being adjusted to various angles and tension levels. And it beats tapping and stomping on the floor any day.
It works best on carpeted surfaces because it's got velcro on the bottom; if you use it on a smooth floor it will slide around a lot. Also, you need a screwdriver to adjust it. I wish this wasn't the case or that it at least came with small tools you can use on it. But once you get it the way you like it, you shouldn't need to adjust it ever again. It is fun to fool around with and try different settings. I love taking this on the road and being able to practice grooves more naturally and accurately. I recommend this for anyone who loves to play and practice even when they can't be behind their drum set.

HQ 12 Inch Practice Pad Review

HQ 12 Inch Practice Pad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This pad is HUGE... get the 6 inch one. It will weigh you down otherwise. You wouldn't believe how heavy the 12 inch pad is. Also extremely not portable. The 6 inch one is the perfect size.
Aside from that, the two different sides are awesome. One is silenced and easy to bounce on, and the other one is better for cleaning up your playing and is a little louder. I also like how it has no rim like my piece of junk old practice pad.
Get the 6 inch version of this and you won't be sorry.

I've never owned a drum pad before, but this is definitely a good product. It has much bounce on the grey side, like a real marching snare, and a little less on the hard black side which really helps build your chops. Over a very good buy.

Remo Practice Pad with Stand, 10-Inch Review

Remo Practice Pad with Stand, 10-Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've used several practice pads over the years. This one I held onto for about 6 months before giving it away to someone on craigslist. The pad noise and feel were just so off as to be unusable.
The allure of a practice pad is drumming without annoying your neighbors. At this, the Remo practice pad fails spectacularly. The pad is really, really loud. The head is as loud as a regular drum with a cheap muffler on it. The rim hits are pretty loud too. And the stand drives this sound straight down to your downstairs neighbors. Most anything else you've been hitting our sticks against will be quieter than this, including books, chairs, mousepads, standard cheap rubber practice pads, etc.
In terms of size, 10" is barely a popcorn snare. This is significant because the edges stick up a great deal: far more than most drum sets I've used. In certain ways this is helpful to develop your targeting, but it also means that you're constantly whacking the edges and cursing instead of focusing on technique. Frankly, I found rim hits to be a constant annoyance.
The feel is hard to quantify, but all of the remo practice pads that I've used just "feel" close but off. It feels like someone stuffed a pillow as tightly as they could into a snare. The rebound style is good, but there is a deadness to it that just feels wrong. While it is helpful to have an adjustable drum head, it never quite gets right.
The stand, on the other hand, has been pretty solid and nice to have. I could see transitioning the stand into a real drum set, albeit holding something light.
Overall, the resounding loudness, weird rebound issues, and annoyingly large rim make it hard to recommend Remo's higher priced pads over traditional rubber ones. For basic paradiddles and other practicing in real-world circumstances, I'd recommend going with one of the many other available options.

Vic Firth Single Sided, 6 Review

Vic Firth Single Sided, 6
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is a nice practice pad for good old rudiments and has a good material. It has a great bounce effect. This can really help you if you are starting drummer as if you are a professional drummer. But it has some flaws. To start this product is not the one from the picture. in the picture we see a 35cm or 40cm practice pad. the one i got is 15cm. so yes is a lot more smaller. And that can bring you some problems. Also is all the material. where it says "vic firth" that is on black plastic. And this pad we see in the picture that i have had the chance to play features a double side that you can play in and the one is sold does not have that. The material that you can play in is kind of loose, so maybe you would have to reinforce it. So in the end Is good, you can practice a lot of different techniques and it will improve your drum speed and skills so is kind of what you asked.

Vic Firth Double sided, 12 Review

Vic Firth Double sided, 12
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've played with all sorts of practice pads and this Vic Firth double sided pad is by far my favorite, as well as the best looking of the bunch. The grey side is the soft and bouncy side, I use this when I'm just starting to work on an exercise. When I feel as if I've worked the exercise to a presentable level I then flip the pad over to the black side. This side is hard rubber with considerably less bounce, therefore it makes you work a little harder. I use this to work my muscles and build the rudiment/exercise into my muscle memory.

Aquarian Drumheads TBP12 Tru-Bounce Practice Pad 12-inch Practice Pad Review

Aquarian Drumheads TBP12 Tru-Bounce Practice Pad 12-inch Practice Pad
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I have several practice pads, each with different characteristics, and I end up using this one almost exclusively. I like the bounce that I get from the sticks and can play long rolls with little effort. I like the rebound I get with accents.
It comes with black composite sticks that I like a lot, as it has a smooth surface at the fulcrum balance point and a somewhat rougher surface at the bottom of the sticks where you need more traction. The sticks don't get dented like my wooden sticks, so I'm figuring I'll have them around a lot longer than other sticks that I have.
I like this so much that I went back to the local music store to buy the pad and sticks for a friend who is just starting out. The store was sold out so I'll have to buy it online. Not a problem - this pad is worth the extra trouble.

HQ RealFeel Practice Pad, 12 Inch Review

HQ RealFeel Practice Pad, 12 Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this practise pad to give to my son for a special occasion. Amazon shipped me an Evans practise pad that is selling for half what this one costs. Looking at the other review it seems that Amazon makes a habit of doing this. It is not acceptable to sell someone something and then send them something else. I honestly feel that this was done intentionally. I believe that the shipper was hoping that I would keep the cheaper practise pad. When a customer orders a expensive item and is sent something of much lesser quality it is rediculous that I will have to wait 2-3 weeks after the incorrectly shipped item is returned and process. It will probably take 4 weeks to receive credit for this item. I offered to keep this item if amazon would refund the difference but they are evidently not able to do that. I feel cheated. I will NEVER order from this company again.

Remo Practice Pad Stand Review

Remo Practice Pad Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this item assuming it came with both a practice pad and the stand. The Amazon listing shows a practice pad in the product photo and lists the item as "Remo Stand, Practice Pad, Tall" That pretty much tells me its a stand AND a pad. Not so. We are disappointed with the listing on Amazon. But the stand is nice, sturdy and what we wanted in a drum pad stand.
We will now order the Pad as an addition to the stand. This will cost more than another listing we saw on another site that sold both together. So we are spending more than we would have needed to.
Future buyers be warned.
