Remo Djembe Fossil Fantasy 24x12 Inch Review

Remo Djembe Fossil Fantasy 24x12 Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I'll start with the fact that I don't play drums, I just act like everyone else who loves tapping stuff with their hands to a random beat. I have played guitar for a while, so I'm not new to music. I just wanted to add some variety out here in Iraq while deployed since there are other musicians in my unit.
This drum is compact (relative to a drum set), but it has great tone. The bass has some punch to it and as you move away from the center, the tones get sharper. If you're looking to add a little beat to an acoustic guitar, this is fun and simple but over time, can get as complex as you want. Just be sure to leave some air space between the bottom of the drum and the floor. A slight cant also allows the sound not to bounce back into the drum.
I love the look of this Remo Djembe, the fossil pattern is cool and the Remo seal is nice and shiny. The attached sling is nice and sturdy but I prefer playing it sitting down.
I wouldn't know how to tune a drum, but I'm glad they made it that easy too. All in all, this was a great investment to have some fun while out here.

Remo SKYNDEEP Doumbek Head, 8 5/8" Review

Remo SKYNDEEP Doumbek Head, 8 5/8
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
After experimenting with a number of doumbek heads for my Ghawaret El Fan drum, I settled on the Remo SKYNDEEP, primarily for the tonal quality. It produces solid and non-flabby dums, crisp teks, and nice, sharp pops. The head is well made: the metal ring is substantial, flat, uniform, and perfectly circular, and the membrane is uniformly tensioned and shaped all around the circumference. A lot of other heads have very poor quality metal rings with severe warps, and puckered and irregular membranes -- even heads that sometimes come on otherwise good drums.
So how does SKYNDEEP compare to Fiberskyn or clear/blue plastic? This head seems brighter and more lively than Fiberskyn. It sounds a lot like a very good clear/blue plastic head, but perhaps just a bit more mellow. This head has a slightly matte texture, between the other two head types, that I find to be more comfortable to play than the smooth plastic heads.
Be sure to measure your drum carefully before you order a new head. There are several doumbek sizes, and the 8 1/2 and 8 5/8 rims are maddeningly close to each other, but won't accept the wrong head. The 8 5/8 head should fit the usual Ghawaret El Fan (Egyptian) or a Kirmizigul (Turkish) drum. One bit of advice if you've never taken the rim off your drum before: Use pieces of tape to mark both the rim and the drum body before removing the rim. When you put the rim back on, make sure the tapes align again. You can't assume that the 6 (sometimes 8 or 4) bolts will be exactly 60 degrees apart or that the bolt holes are drilled perpendicularly. This will save you from stripping the threads, which are often directly in the (soft) aluminum drum body. (Some drums have brass inserts, which are more durable.) You may notice that on better drums, the underside of the rim and the top surface of the drum body are already marked with the proper alignment, but don't count on it.

Vic Firth Double sided, 6 Review

Vic Firth Double sided, 6
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I got this pad for my birthday last october and to this day it has the same out-of-the-box feel. I mostly use the lighter colored side, in fact, i only really use the lighter colored side, the other side is harder than the lighter side so it gives more bounce, but even when i got this pad i used the light side. Plus the light side is much quieter than the dark side. I've always used it to warm up being shows or anywhere really. And its quite small so i always keep it with me. If i have ever some free time i pull out my sticks and play with the pad. I just wish it came with a small portable stand! oh well. I completely recommend getting this pad.

Remo 25" x 14" Tunable Djembe, Kinte Kloth Design Review

Remo 25 x 14 Tunable Djembe, Kinte Kloth Design
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this exact Remo 14" Djembe drum used from my local drum shop. The finish on mine is also the same as photo " Kinte Kloth " and that was the feature that got me to buy it, the first time I saw it. The pattern gives it a really cool West African look, as I understand it each tribe uses a different pattern and combination of colors, like how the clans in Scotland each use a different Tartan. The sound is awesome, no weird buzzing or rattles, it is " tight as a drum " ! I am still very much a beginner even after a year, proper technique really takes some work and it is very easy to think that the Djembe is a simple instrument but to master it is no joke.
Another cool thing about it is that the weather won't affect it like one made from wood and goat skin. Tuning is easy, after a while many things can cause the drum head to get loose, just add small turns on the adjusters, going from one side to the other, a little bit at a time till it sounds and feels snappy and alive. The head is made from a product that really looks and feels like real goat skin, without all the ropes to loosen and tighten all the time. In defense of the wooden/goat skin Djembes, if you have the money and can deal with the inconsistencies and tuning, if it was made by a good craftsmen, then a bigger, better sound cannot be found any where else, wood is the best sound. But for anything other than studio recording or playing professionally, the Remo Djembe is more drum than anyone should need for jamming, drum circles, home use, etc., Check one out and you will be happy ! Good Luck and Practice, Practice, Practice !!! WaterRabbit aka Joseph W., Cape Cod, MA, USA

14" Series 100 Tubano from Remo, Island Review

14 Series 100 Tubano from Remo, Island
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These Remo Tubanos are just the thing for young or begginging students. They are fairly durable and very easy to play. The feet are the best part. You don't need to hold or tip them to hear a good bass sound. I highly recommend you get the tunable models, NOT the pre-tuned ones. It's worth the extra cost.

Rhythm Band RB2319 Soft Rubber Mallets Review

Rhythm Band RB2319 Soft Rubber Mallets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
bought this because it seems to have a small and soft head to be used on my hapi drum. the ones that i have now are larger and make to loud a volume giving bad reverberations. the head is small but abit too hard for my liking. the handles are long, and seems to be made of cheap plastic. it does give a lower volume compared to my bigger head mallets but because its rather hard, theres a knocking sound generated also that i dont like. then again, its cheap so i cant complain.

Remo Rhythm Club Konga (6 Inch) Review

Remo Rhythm Club Konga (6 Inch)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My son got this with the club bongos and this almost gets played more often than the bongos. But it's also been picked up and played by the Grandparents and every kid that has come over to play. So much fun. So durable and has a wonderful sound to it!
The only precaution...little ones like to put the strap around their heads, not advisable!!

works great on a real African type drum, very well made mallet.
After one year the children haven't damaged the mallets.
I've seen cheaper mallets and this isn't one of them.

Remo Rem-O-Ring Pack (10, 12, 14 and 16 -inch)
Average Reviews:

The rings arrived about a day or 2 earlier than scheduled. They pretty much do their job which is to cancel out resonance and to dampen the sound of the drum being played.
Would highly recommend.

Djembe In Fabric Black Earth Finish Review

Djembe In Fabric Black Earth Finish
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought this one because I was getting tired of having to fix the ropes on my African djembe, and I was also looking for a lighter drum with a big head. On those marks, this is a nice improvement. It is easy to tune with the Allen wrench that comes with it, and the shell is remarkably light, which makes for much easier standing while playing. The original head is also beveled, which allows for a nice hit, and the skin is quite thin. That is a mixed blessing. The thinner skin makes for a really quick jump off of it due to the lack of vibrational absorption, so the speedy drummers might like this feature. I can play faster on this one. The one really down side is that it has a bit of a ringing overtone and does not have that firmer sound that you get with an animal skin. I have compensated for this by using Moon Gel, which you put on the head and it absorbs a bit of the ringing, but it still is there. As such, I would suggest (as with all instruments) it is worth a play to see if it is your cup of tea.

Remo DI-6110-00 Djembe Stand (fits 12" or larger djembe) Review

Remo DI-6110-00 Djembe Stand (fits 12 or larger djembe)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This product is very helpful if you wish to play your djembe while sitting. It's sturdy, and with the rubber coating, it offers the drum a bit of protection from scratches. [It is also helpful for storage.]
The stand raises the drum off the floor, which allows the sound hole to do its job more effectively --a fact that frees the drum's uniquely versatile "voices" for best playing, slaps, tones, and most especially, bass. This stand is the perfect companion to a Remo Festival Djembe 12."

Best thing I ever purchased for my son. He's been playing since age 6 months. Worth 10X what we paid for it. Its made to last. Occasionally after a set he will stand on it and announce something in baby gibberish which I take to mean "thanks to Remo for making me so happy".

Remo 14" x 21" Bahia Bass Drum - Gypsy Red Review

Remo 14 x 21 Bahia Bass Drum - Gypsy Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
OK, I know: percussion purists will undoubtedly balk at my opinion, but I found these gypsy red Remo Bahia Bass drums to be just what every drum circle needs! While nobody will argue that djuns are the ideal for marking the pulse, thiese custom techno developed drums by Remo fill in nicely. They can even carry the drum circle's bass beat if your djun player doesn't show up, or if you're hauling gear to the beach or a campground. Lightweight, portable, and with their own rubber feet to stand upon, these are affordable and durable. I play mine with a surdo mallet in one hand, and use my other hand to dampen the sound, to produce a contrasting slap, or even to play the counter note with a djun stick. Lots of possibilities with these little champs. Stay in tune, impervious to cold and rainy weather, easy to tote, and with big sound, I happily discovered what a great investment these are.

Remo 8" Hand Drum Mallet with Colorful Head Review

Remo 8 Hand Drum Mallet with Colorful Head
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
When you buy these buy a bunch. My kids love to drum and drum on everything. It was killing me the things they would think to use as drumsticks and what they thought they could hit with them. These drumsticks fixed that problem well. They heads bounce nicely and we have not seen a new dent in the furniture since. Of course they work great on their drums too and no one has been seriously injured from drumming on each other yet either. Honestly the best purchase I ever made. I wish they sold them in bulk packs, lol. They are used every single day without exception and it is hard to even get the kids in the car somedays with out toting along the drum sticks too.

Evans G2 Clear Drumhead, 12 Inch Review

Evans G2 Clear Drumhead, 12 Inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Replaced the stock Remo UK heads on my Ludwig CS Custom Elite Birch with a set of these (10-12-14) and wow, what a difference. The stock heads weren't horrible, but the punch these G2 clears have is incredible. They don't kill the tone like Pinstripes, but still give me a nice controlled sound. They tune easily and seem to have a wide usable range. I play a wide range of styles and these heads can handle them all. I've heard good things about the durability of these, but since I've only had them a few weeks I can't comment on that.
As long as they last a while, I'll be very happy.
