Remo 14" Pretuned Buffalo Drum Review

Remo 14 Pretuned Buffalo Drum
Average Reviews:

I drum in Shamanic journey circles. Unfortunately I live near the river and the humidity is intense. My skin drums can get pretty flat at times. I ordered the Remo 14" drum because another drummer suggested it would work for me. I love the drum. The tone is perfect. I can take it anywhere no matter how humid the weather is. Nancy

Rhythm Band RB2319 Soft Rubber Mallets Review

Rhythm Band RB2319 Soft Rubber Mallets
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
bought this because it seems to have a small and soft head to be used on my hapi drum. the ones that i have now are larger and make to loud a volume giving bad reverberations. the head is small but abit too hard for my liking. the handles are long, and seems to be made of cheap plastic. it does give a lower volume compared to my bigger head mallets but because its rather hard, theres a knocking sound generated also that i dont like. then again, its cheap so i cant complain.

Remo 10" Black Mallet with Cloth-Covered Rubber Head Review

works great on a real African type drum, very well made mallet.
After one year the children haven't damaged the mallets.
I've seen cheaper mallets and this isn't one of them.

Remo Kid's Percussion Rain Forest Djembe Review

Remo Kid's Percussion Rain Forest Djembe
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
We purchased this drum for our kids because, like many children, they love to "drum" on everything. The drum gives beautiful, rich sound, even for a beginner, without any practice or experience. It is well made, sturdy and frankly, beautiful. I would highly recommend this drum to anyone.

RegalTip 530R Regal Brushes Plast Blastick Review

RegalTip 530R Regal Brushes Plast Blastick
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased these as an alternative to Promark Cool Rods (ASIN B0002CZWWW). I love the Cool Rods, but wanted something a bit more 'swishy' for some acoustic pieces. This stick gave me the sound I was looking for. I also find myself using these for late night practice because they have a fairly flat sound that does not project.
The feel is natural, and although these sticks are around 5A size in diameter (I use 7A for playing), they are lightweight and fast. You can get a little rebound off your drums (not enough to do double stroke rolls), but practically zero rebound off cymbals. For playing this is a slight annoyance, but it greatly aids your practice sessions because it makes you work.
My pair has developed a slight warp on the stick I normally use for my left hand. I play traditional grip and do a lot of left hand practice exercises. This does not detract from the quality of this stick since I have used it for hundreds of hours. Indeed, considering the amount of use this pair has and the way I put it through its paces during practice, this stick will last years of normal, light playing.
The real reason to get this stick is the subtle shade of sound it can produce. It fits nicely between traditional brushes and rods, such as the Promark Cool Rods I also use.

World Percussion TU051209 Remo 12'' Tubano-Tropical Leaf Review

World Percussion TU051209 Remo 12'' Tubano-Tropical Leaf
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
These Remo Tubanos are just the thing for young or beginnng students. They are fairly durable and very easy to play. The feet are the best part. You don't need to hold or tip them to hear a good bass sound. I highly recommend you get the tunable models, NOT the pre-tuned ones. It's worth the extra cost. The pre-tuned drums get lower and lower sounding and there is no way to tune them back up. Also the heads can pull off if lifted by the rim and that's how kids will naturally move them.

I don't know much about drums or djembes in particular, but I purchased this item for someone who loves the sound of drumming. The size is great, the decorations are cool, and the sound is deep. The price can't be beat compared to other online vendors. I would definitely recommend this product.

Tambourine, 10" Featherweight Review

Tambourine, 10 Featherweight
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The tambourine was comfortable to hold, but the sound was very "tinny" and was not mellow. I ordered two because two of us would be playing it in a vocal mixed quartet and would be using a microphone. This tambourine would be too high pitched for our purposes.

This drum has great sound, but had a defective rim with an indent. Also the strap connectors buzz a bit. Overall a good drum for the money, I have no regrets. Shipped super fast!

Remo Rhythm Club Tambourine (6 Inch) Review

Remo Rhythm Club Tambourine (6 Inch)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)

The sound of the drum head and cymbals is descent for a small "toy" tambourine but the build quality is very poor. The frame is a layered cardboard. The painted picture of childrens faces is a decal, and the blue cloth band holding on the drum head is held in place with two staples. I doubt it will last long at all.

Remo Rhythm Club Bongos (5 and 6 Inch) Review

Remo Rhythm Club Bongos (5 and 6 Inch)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
As a musician I have owned various Remo products in the past and while these aren't professional quality by any means, they are a fun, sturdy starting point for someones little fingers. The built in legs keep them just high enough off of the surface to allow the drum head to resonate (except on our medium pile rug) and they are strong enough to handle a smashing (I often find him beating on them with my drumsticks). The drum heads are not tunable, but they do sound quite nice right out of the box. The good thing about these is the sound actually gets better over time. As they loosen the tone gets nice and mellow. We used to keep a few of the earlier models of these Remo drums in the studio for recording because they had a surprisingly nice tone, nothing has changed there. Another bonus is I often find myself playing along to his favorite (Groove to the Music) music with them while he dances around the room.
The images on the drums themselves are of all different types of people and offer a form of entertainment in themselves. Often our son will become disinterested in actually drumming, but he'll sit there pointing at and asking questions about the various faces that are featured all over the drums.
For those of you about to click Buy I have a suggestion: out of the box the wing nuts should be checked for tightness. Ours came a little loose and the drums could twist a few degrees in each direction. My experience as a drummer also reminded me that after I tightened them down to put just a drop of Loctite THREADLOCK BLUE 6 ml. 24200 on each screw to keep the nuts from backing off over time.
All in all they were definitely a good buy. We both enjoy them immensely and I expect they'll be here for the long haul.

Remo E1-0312-00 Standard Buffalo Drum, 12" x 3.5" Review

Remo E1-0312-00 Standard Buffalo Drum, 12 x 3.5
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
The 12 inch drum seems to be a nice size to be able to hold onto easily. If you choose to not hold it by the cross ropes in the back, (or if unable to use your hands to grip) you could rest it standing on your lap with a hand on top to brace it, or simply lay it flat on your lap. It can be played with the included beater, or you can tap it with your hand. It's actually quite the versatile little instrument.
I love this drum and the way it sounds, which is very Native American. It could be used in a drum circle environment, although the sound is different than you would hear from typical African instruments like djembes. Remo Djembe, Earth 24X12 Inches
This drum is excellent for shamanic style drumming - repetitive patterns to balance the left/right hemispheres of the brain to allow you to enter a trance-like state for journeying. Shamanic Journeying: A Beginner's Guide
Even though this drum looks similar to other frame drums Remo Frame Drum FIBERSKYN 12" x 2.5", it's got a thicker rim and a lower sound that lends more to be played with a beater (included) than with your fingers, as is common in Middle Eastern Music. I have tried playing this drum with a tipper, Knob Tipper Sloped with Ridge as you would play on a Bodhran, 18" ROSEWOOD TUNABLE BODHRAN and well...it's probably going to sound better on a Bodhran.
The outer rim of the drum takes acrylic paint well if you would like to decorate your drum. I think I used acrylic fabric paint on mine.

I picked out this drum in anticipation of traveling to a workshop on shamanism. It's small enough to pack easily, well constructed, and the price I paid for it was way less than competing websites. The crisscross frame inside makes it easy to hold, and the sound quality is surprisingly nice. Bonus: you can paint it with your own designs!
