(More customer reviews)I've played with all sorts of practice pads and this Vic Firth double sided pad is by far my favorite, as well as the best looking of the bunch. The grey side is the soft and bouncy side, I use this when I'm just starting to work on an exercise. When I feel as if I've worked the exercise to a presentable level I then flip the pad over to the black side. This side is hard rubber with considerably less bounce, therefore it makes you work a little harder. I use this to work my muscles and build the rudiment/exercise into my muscle memory.
