(More customer reviews)I was never a drum major. I began playing drums long after school so this book was a bit difficult to get into. It is basically a bunch elaborated rudiments and rudiment variations. Pages of them. I was bored and discouraged because the book is nothing but exercises and it is recommended that one play each exercise 20 times before moving on...
Practice with a capital P.
The only reason i continued with this book is because my instructor assured me that it was worth it. He opined that all the major players must have done these exercises....and then he likened it to the Bible. He was right. My hands are much faster and far more precise than they ever could have been without this book.

if you have the patience to COMMIT yourself to these exercises, you will be nice with the hands. period.

Vic Firth Heavy Hitter Quadropad Large Review

The only down side is that when I put the film sheets onto each pad (to make them more realistic for scrapes and what not) it made them a lot louder. For a pad, I was surprised as to how loud it became. It almost like hitting a piece of plastic. I feel like it also detracted from the more natural bounce that it had before putting on the plastic films. Be cautionary when you put them on. Just put on one at first and play on it for a while to make sure you like the feel.

Hansenfutz Futz Practice Pedal - Portable Practice Kick Pedal Review

(More customer reviews)I travel a lot so I have a portable practice pad which straps to my knee that I take with me on trips but tapping your feet on a flat floor is really tough on the ankles and doesn't come anywhere near approximating the feel of a bass or hi hat pedal. So I was excited when I saw this product and immediately sent away for it. I have not been disappointed.
First I must say that it doesn't exactly duplicate the feeling of a real pedal, but I think that would be impossible for such a compact product to do. The first priority is portability. There are pads you can buy and attach to a real drum bass pedal, but it's huge and clunky, not something you can tote around in your bag. This pedal is light but sturdy and is capable of being adjusted to various angles and tension levels. And it beats tapping and stomping on the floor any day.
It works best on carpeted surfaces because it's got velcro on the bottom; if you use it on a smooth floor it will slide around a lot. Also, you need a screwdriver to adjust it. I wish this wasn't the case or that it at least came with small tools you can use on it. But once you get it the way you like it, you shouldn't need to adjust it ever again. It is fun to fool around with and try different settings. I love taking this on the road and being able to practice grooves more naturally and accurately. I recommend this for anyone who loves to play and practice even when they can't be behind their drum set.

i sat the first time and just watched him go at it on the snare for an hour very entertaining no wonder he has a couple competitions under his belt before i picked up my sticks to work on my chops i dove right into the special features to see some more of his skill and his flare which he also explains and teachs in this dvd .... and it doesnt stop there he expalins the equiptment he is using and not to try to sell a product at all he shows the products he uses and explains why he uses it and what it does theres allot more features and i wish i watched them all but after watching him and seeing how well of an educator he is i just grabbed my sticks and was inspired to practice all day if you want to learn your rudiments and want to learn them quick professionally and learn some flare tricks while your at it this is the dvd i have 3 rudiments dvds and a couple books and so far this one has inspired and taught it in a way that is easy to follow:)

(More customer reviews)These sticks are very nice! They're quite similar to your standard 5A pitch-paired sticks, but they're just a little bit shorter. Playing these sticks with the blunt side out gives you a tremendous, focused and powerful stroke, with a nice beefy feel. Meanwhile, the tapered tip side provides a gracefully smooth and controllable response... A very versatile pair of sticks indeed!
You just can't beat these for the price, so I bought two pairs... I should have bought a dozen!!! Maybe I will if these break any time soon....
Highly recommend these sticks!!!

Yamaha YDD40 Portable Digital Electronic Drums Premium Pack Review

(More customer reviews)Judging by the descriptions, not sure this was meant as a toy, but not sure what to call it as it is not being used as a drum trainer. Our 10 year old son is interested in music, but hasn't started in any formal music lessons. He likes to use this with his headphones and drum along with the music. The only issue is that with the hard plastic surrounding the rubber pads, when he misses, it is louder than we'd like. Still, so far it has been fun for our son to play and spends significant time finding new tunes and new drum patterns.

DW Drum Workshop CPPADTS5 Go Anywhere Pad Set with Stand Review

(More customer reviews)I really wanted to get an electronic drum set, but I don't have the cash for it right now so I purchased this practice kit instead to pass the time. I can say that I thoroughly enjoy it. At first when you get it home and out and set up it feels funny because every pad just makes a different tone of a practice pad and your ears want to hear those typical drum sounds. Once you get over that though it becomes a really great tool to practice your chops without making anyone around you mad. One draw back to the kit is that the pad that was supposed to extend out to the left to mimic the hi hat does not stretch out far enough to give you the normal feel of where you might place your hi hat on a real kit. To compensate for this you can actually just by a hi hat stand, cymbals, and get a mute for it and use the 4 pads as a snare and 3 toms. That way you can also work on your left foot action with the hi hat also. That's what I'm eventually going to do, but for now I just deal with the hi hat being a little off. That's my only despair about this set up. Other than that I love it. The pads are a lot smaller than a normal kit so after playing with this for a little bit you'll be dead on center with your kit!

Gibraltar GCLMSP Linear Motion Single Pedal With Bag Review

(More customer reviews)Such a great pedal I'm surprised it hasn't had more reviews, its got a great feel and such dynamic control that you can do as much with it as you can with your sticks.
All the normal bass drum techniques work on it brilliantly, I personally use the swivel technique.
And the speed you can get out of it is great.
The build quality seems sturdy enough, I've been playing it for around three weeks now, and I love it. no faults as of yet and I play a lot.
The only thing I have changed is the beater, swapping the 'pancake' for my felt, but that's all preference.
Great piece of hardware.

If you are looking for sticks to play loud these are wrong. If you are looking for sticks with excellent balance, weight and feeling then these are perfect. period.
