Gibraltar GBDP Bass Drum Pads Review

Gibraltar GBDP Bass Drum Pads
Average Reviews:

Bought this for hooking up a Reed Switch driven bass pedal for Rock Band (www.scorehero.com in the hardware forums for info). It worked good, it is not quiet by any means. If you have your own house and like the thump, it is great but you will probably need to pass on this idea if you are in an apartment or something (unless maybe if you are on the ground floor). I'm not a "real" drummer, but it does seem to be a little mushy. Overall I was happy with the purchase.

I've given these as a gift to my drummer last year, and purchased another pair recently as a showcase item for tradeshows (my company makes these awesome drumstick sleeves: [...]), so we made giant sleeves for these and they look fantastic!

Firestix Light up Drumsticks Red Review

These are so sturdy and able to withstand my abuse! I beat the crap out of my rock band and it is great, they stay lighted and also have NEVER even blinked while playing... The stick has basically 1 piece and then a cap on the bottom of the stick, not in the middle of the stick to break when you strike the drum. Get these and you'll be very satisfied, trust me!

New Pro Acrylic Firestix Wild Fx Light Up Drum Sticks Review

New Pro Acrylic Firestix Wild Fx Light Up Drum Sticks
Average Reviews:

Though I haven't used these onstage yet, I doubt I will. The problem is, these acrylic sticks have too much flex to rebound properly off drumheads. In other words, their playing feel is poor.
Whether this is due to the button cell batteries moving around in the butts of the sticks, or simply a lack of rigidity in the acrylic construction, Firestix just don't have the solid feel of proper wood sticks.
I had intended to use these Firestix for my band's solo number, but I'm anticipating that their feel will compromise my playing enough that I would be better off relying on the sound and feel of my usual Vic Firth wood sticks than opting for the "flash" of Firestix.
The Amazon affiliate from whom I bought these also neglected to include the original Firestix package shown in the product photo, as well as instructions. So as best I can determine, there is also no way to turn the Firestix off. That means that any knocks the sticks take in my stick bag en route to a gig will cause them to flash, reducing battery life.
I will update this review if I revise my opinion after our upcoming band rehearsal, when I will try out the Firestix.
Until then, I will consider them best suited as a kids' toy rather than an instrument for a pro or semi-pro drummer.
Disappointing...

Firestix FX12BL Firestix Brilliant Blue Review

These definitely look kewl, but the acrylic is too soft, so the sticks flex as you strike. This provides an unpleasant "mushy" experience. Gripping them closer to the tip ameliorates the problem somewhat, but changes the dynamics.
These are fun to show your friends, but not really ready for primetime.

These sticks are very nice to hold, very sturdy, and resistant to denting and scuffs. The only problem is that they turn your hands red haha!
I still like the way they look and feel even though my hands turned red after 20 min of use. It wasn't terrible, just noticeably red.
