De Rosa DRM312-BK Children's 3 Piece 12 Inch Drum Set with Chair, Black Review

We purchased this drum set for our 3 year old wannabe Rock Star. He LOVES it...and Mommy and Daddy LOVE the quality of it! He has hours of fun "rocking out" on it with his microphone pulled up next to him so he can sing and drum at the same time. This set is deff better quality then the 1st Act stuff we saw at Toys R Us. We are glad we held out and found this set on Amazon. I think he will enjoy this set for a LONG time!

GP55 Child Size Junior Drum Set with Seat, Sticks & Cymbals - Red Review

GP55 Child Size Junior Drum Set with Seat, Sticks and Cymbals - Red
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Me and my friends were going to start a band and all we had was a microphone, guitar, and a discovery junior drum set with one symbol, 3 drums, a stool, and 2 very small drum sticks. The drums were bad for band usage. They were small. After all, with a little practice, our band turned out pretty good. Then we went up stairs for a snack and when we came back one five year old kid turned the drum that was needed badly for harmony and rhythm into a piece of unnecessary crap. We tried everything; scotch (the tape and not the drink), duck tape, glue, but the little kid ruined the drum forever and ever. Our band was ruined because of one little five year old kid. Who said little doesn't make a difference. We ended up performing in front of some friends, but since the drums were held up by chairs the drums didn't really make a sound. After that we tried to fix the drums, again. We didn't. As i was pulling over some money to fix the drums, i got a letter from amazon showing the new GP55. I checked on-line and i saw that these drums would be the perfect thing. Would you rather pay to fix a horrible type of drum or would you buy a great drum that costs the exact same price as fixing the bad one. The answer is easy. For 174.95 $ I could buy lord and empire of all 174.95$ drums ever. when i bought it came in a great organized pile. i took it all out and started jamming. This was a great move for me and I hope you find this review great for yourselves and the drums as helpful as they were for me.

Signature Music Pro Double Bass Drum Pedal New 7199 Review

Signature Music Pro Double Bass Drum Pedal New 7199
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
First, I have 2 real Problems here... 1 with Amazon. The 2nd with the Pedal I received.
Problem 1.) I went LOOKING for a Double Bass Pedal for my son's drum set. When I came across this one, I wanted to get more info. Because I was distracted, I accidentally clicked on the "fast order" bar and immediately received a message "Thanks for your order, your credit card has been billed and you item will ship immediately... Have a nice day!". No problem, I thought. I'll go to Amazon and cancel the order. WRONG!! You can't cancel orders listed in "Amazon Marketplace". Amazon is just a front for some fly-by-night outfit. I thought "OK... I'm stuck with it. Maybe it isn't so bad." WRONG AGAIN!!
Problem 2.) The Pedal is JUNK!. I'm a Manufacturing R&D Engineer of 20 years. I know how things are made and go together. Nothing, ... NOTHING in this pedal says Quality. Quality didn't even slow down here! The Sheet medal part are miss-drilled, the castings are warped not drilled & tapped true, every bushing had to be re-set by me, because of the piss poor rushed assemble, every screw and bolt was loose (some were cross threaded), the paint was peeling and even the mallet posts didn't have enough thread on them to keep the felt heads and washers from bouncing up and down. I have to get extra washers to keep it from clinking.
So, why didn't I send it back? I didn't catch that it would cost over $22.00 to ship it (most drum houses would ship for free!) and it would cost another $22.00 to return it. Re-sell it? I'm too honest to stick this junk on someone else. Do yourself a favor... LOOK at a BRAND NAME pedal and CHECK the SHIPPING CHARGE.

GP Percussion GP75WR Cocktail Drum Set (Wine Red) Review

GP Percussion GP75WR Cocktail Drum Set (Wine Red)
Average Reviews:

While this is not a regular drum set, it does offer alot for those who can appreciate it for what it is. If one plays it with Hot Rods drum sticks, the tones are more suited for an unplugged/acoustic set. Play the same drums with the included drums sticks and this kit can play loud enopugh to be heard over electric guitars.
The down side, as with all cocktail kits, is that it must be played standing up. The nature of the beast (or beats) I suppose. I love this kit and it makes a great addition to my collection.

Purchased this set for my 11 year old son, which is taking advanced drum lessons. These have good quality mahogany wood shells, all stands are double braced, the Hi-hat and bass pedals have good quality chain drive. This is a complete set from throne to drumsticks. Great starter set! It will be hard to find a better set for the money anywhere! This set does come completly unassembled, but has a good website with a step by step video that makes assembly so easy that our son did most of the assembly his self. Arrived ahead of schedule in great shape!

Starcaster Drum Set - Black Review

Starcaster Drum Set - Black

I purchased this for my teenage Nephew for Christmas. His Mother has many friends that are band members and they were impressed with the quality and price of this drum set. He plays this on a regular basis (plays long and hard) so if any problems occur in the near future, I will be sure to pass that info on here. But right now, I have to say that he is thrilled with it and so are all the pro's that helped him put the set it up and tune it.

DeRosa by Bridgecraft *BLUE* Child Drum Set with Seat, Sticks & Cymbal -DRM 312
My wife and I were looking at drums for younger children. Much of ones seen in kids toy stores ar just that - cheap kids toys that don't look like they would last very long if at all. We found this drum kit and ordered it. It arrived in less than one week (Thanksgiving got in the way)and it arrived in fine condition. Make no mistake, this a quality instrument for children, not just a "toy". It looks like it will stand up to a childs use for a long time to come and Vintage Drum has repair parts available if needed. When is the last time you saw that? The drums actually sound like drums should. My wife and I can hardly wait for Christmas to see our Grandaughter's face when she gets them!

DW Drums Eco-X Kit with 22-inch Kick Drum, Desert Sand Finish (Cymbals Not Included) Review

DW Drums Eco-X Kit with 22-inch Kick Drum, Desert Sand Finish (Cymbals Not Included)
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I recently purchased the ECO-X set, not thru amazon.com but thru DW specifically. An when I put them together and added some Remo pinstripe heads on them I was blown away from the sound. I own 2 DW set's already but wanted to give the ECO-X a try and I'm so empressed. Im a huge maple fan but never owned a birch set especially with bamboo. The sound was warm and fat, and the look is great also. So drummers out there give them a try you wont be dissapointed.
P.S. The desert sand finish is great!!!

DW provides drummers with yet another sonic option, while at the same time utilizing renewable resources, that's ECO-X. They are big, full sounding drums with a huge fundamental, and all of the warmth, resonance, and attack that Collector's Series drums are known for. This DW Eco-X 5-piece drum shell pack not only satisfies drummer's needs with its huge sound, and full frequency range, but it also satisfies our need to be environmentally conscious. The unique hybrid bamboo/birch shells provide increased high-end attack, while DW's X Shell technology offers unprecedented low-end response. Plus, DW drummer-friendly features such as True Pitch Tuning, STM (Suspension Tom Mounts), Proportional Counter Hoops and DW Heads by Remo USA all come standard. It's a giant leap forward in shell technology and everyone wins!At DW, making drum shells sound better is what they do best. The X Shell technology all started with DW's foray into VLT, or Vertical Low Timbre Technology. They found that in experimenting with alternate ways to cross-laminate a shell, the tension on the shell could be greatly decreased if the majority of plies were run vertically, rather than horizontally. Just like a guitar string, the tighter it gets, the higher in pitch it goes.Drum shells must be cross-laminated for strength, so the idea of designing a completely vertical shell to achieve optimal low frequencies was never an option, until now-enter X Shells. The concept was derived from DW's popular line of VGE (Vertical Grain Exotics). DW had been laminating veneer in a diagonal orientation for a while, but had never considered the sonic benefits until Master Drum Designer John Good proposed it, "If we can mimic the effect of a complete VLT shell, we'll have created the lowest sounding drum ever." The first prototype was made and the result was a home run. Exactly what Mr. Good had anticipated, big, full sounding drums with a huge fundamental, and all of the warmth, resonance and attack that DW Collector's Series drums are known for. Cymbals and hardware not included.

Fender Starcaster Drum Set - Black Review

Fender Starcaster Drum Set - Black
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I purchased a used Starcaster set as my first, because they were very cheap (which is excellent when you don't know if drums are something you will like or have the talent for).
I couldn't find ANY reviews anywhere for the Starcaster drum set, and so I'm motivated to be the first. I've had this set for three months. I did not receive the starcaster cymabals, so I will not be reviewing them.
PROS - The hardware is most impressive. Although cheap, the bass pedal, hi-hat stand and cymbal stand are holding up very well through my practice (1-2 hours a day) but aren't the best looking. The bass pedal is smooth and accurate, and although the adjustments are VERY limited, it is capable of producing somewhat fast double bass beats (heel up, because for me the pedal is too short for the heel-toe technique). The hi-hat stand functions well enough with all the standard features. The straight cymbal stand doesn't move or even wobble even when I hit my 16" crash extra hard. The snare drum stand is very nice, with plenty of adjustments for a beginner type stand. The shells and other hardware (rims, lugs, tom mounts, bass drum spurs, etc) look nice. I'm happy with the way these drums sound, but the first thing I did was replace all the heads (my heads were used with dents etc so they needed replaced, but the original starcaster heads are very cheap and will need to be replaced quickly in any case).
CONS- The throne is junk. I'm very tall, and it could not adjust high enough. I scrapped it for a nice PDP throne. The snare drum is the BIGGEST disappointment ... because of the MASSIVE overtones it produces, it's difficult to get a lower tuning and still sound good. The drums do not have common numbers of lugs ... the snare only has 8 lugs (very few for a snare, 10 is common but higher is better) 12 and 13 inch toms have 5 lugs each (still low, 6 is pretty common) 16 inch tom has 6 lugs (should usually have 8). The bass drum only has 6 lugs (should have AT LEAST 8). The more lugs you have for tension, the easier it is to "tune" the drum to the desired tone and the less likely the drum will drop out of tunning. Also, the rims are not the most durable ... so if one gets warped or damaged, it may be difficult to find replacement rims that are the proper size with the right number of lugs. Regardless, I was able to tune these drums into a very decent "rock" sound and they are holding the tunning fairly well. The wood shells are a hardwood mix (couldn't tell you which ones) and very cheap. Because of the cheap nature of these shells, the biggest factor for how these drums will sound is what heads you put on them. A few of bearing edges (the part of the shell that contacts the head) were chipped/gouged and needed fixing. The bearing edge is VERY important in relation to how the heads are tuned, and how sound is transferred from the head to resonate through the drum. This could be because the set was used. The stock Starcaster heads are thin and sound terrible, new or otherwise ... because this is a cheaper set I recommend thicker heads (I put Remo Pinstripes on the snare and toms, aquarian superkick and regulator for bass). Thicker heads (especially with dampening agents like the 2 ply pinstripes) will cut out some of the nasty overtones which cheaper drums tend to have for a better overall sound. They are also more durable for the beginning drummer who might be hitting too hard.
OVERALL- For the money I spent, I got more than I paid for. It's a very nice set for a beginner with little $$$ who doesn't mind playing a cheapo kit while saving up for a better one, or for someone who wants to try the drums out without spending lots of money. If you are a student who has played drums, know you like them and wants to own a set of your own I recommend saving for a better set. If you are an intermediate drummer you already guessed these aren't for you. The Gretch Blackhawk is a great set (even for experienced drummers), so are the Mapex M Birch sets. I will probably keep this kit as a kick around set for quite a while, but I'm already looking to buy a better kit after only three months.

Verve X Series 8-10-12-13 Quad Set with Carrier White Review

Verve X Series 8-10-12-13 Quad Set with Carrier White
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Best value Quad set on the market. Lightweight, but durable enough. The connectors that fit it the carrier rotate side to side and have a tension screw to hold in place. However the mount connects to the drum as well and can't be held in place. When drums are set down, without something to hold the carrier in place, all the drums come off and must be put back on when standing. The drum heads are not pro, so I replaced them with Remo heads and now these things surprisingly sound as good as the high end ones I have played in Drum Corps and Marching Bands.

It took my husband 3 hours to put these together because late on Christmas Eve, we discovered there were no instructions sent with the drum set. This was very annoying. I got online but it would only show me directions to another drum set. He had to go by the picture to assemble it. He assembled a smaller drumset last year in just 30 minutes.
