(More customer reviews)Mixvibes Cross isn't the best known DJ Controller package. That honor belongs to packages such as TRAKTOR and Virtual DJ. Yet this DJ package has much to recommend it. It is stable, runs on multiple platforms (Macs, PCs, etc.) and is feature rich without being bloated with rarely used features. Plus, it supports a variety of DJ MIDI controllers. And, importantly, Cross supports my iTunes library.
You can customize the stock controllers and add controllers in the unlikely event that your particular hardware MIDI controller isn't supported. (This was handy for me because, as an Internet DJ, I mix using the channel faders and not with the cross fader. It's too easily to accidently bump the cross fader, so by using a modified controller preference in Cross I was able to disable the cross fader.)
There are some things that could be improved. Cross only supports two virtual decks. While this is what I use 90% of the time, there are instances when I could use a third or fourth deck. In addition, this is a Windows port. As a Mac user, the UI shows all the non-Mac elements of the porting. Preferences, for example, are located under the Edit menu instead of the more Mac-like location in the Apple menu. The iTunes implementation, while it works well, looks awkward in how the UI was implemented. It looks like what it probably was--a bolt on. Finally, I haven't been able to make much use of the Beat CDs and records that came in the package, but that may be more my than Cross's issue.
Still, the flexibility, capabilities, features and stability of Mixvibes Cross makes up for any of these shortcomings. All-in-all Cross is a great DJ Controller package that deserves much more recogition. It does everything that I need for my Internet radio show.

Alesis Electronic Cymbal Trigger for DM5 PRO Kit Review

(More customer reviews)I decided to get this cymbal for my Rock Band ION set. I have to say it's an awesome add on. In my opinion, this cymbal is a bit quieter than the ION cymbals that come with the set. The overall quality of the product is great and the size is great. You end up saving a couple of inches from the back if you're worried about storage space when you're not playing or if you're playing against a wall (remember you can use the IONs as a real drumset or play Rock Band on freestyle)... then again, the ION cymbals are huge compared to this one so you'd have to have all 3 to actually save some space.
I hadn't played Rock Band with cymbals until I got the ION set and I have to say it adds a lot to the game. It's more realistic and much MUCH harder to play the game... and you look a hell of a lot cooler! You won't get any sign or cue of when you should hit the cymbals so it's ok if you hit the pad when it's a cymbal hit and vice versa... I guess you just have to feel when you're supposed to hit it or learn when. I hope this gets taken care of in Rock Band 3 or in a patch for Rock Band 2. I haven't learned any of the songs by memory so I still have to look at the colors on the screen, so it's confusing to have the green cymbal (crash) on the left and the blue one (ride) on the right. Of course I can just swap them but I'm going for the traditional drum setup so it's just a matter of choice.

Ion Drum Rocker Premium Drum Set Review

(More customer reviews)I searched a long time before deciding to buy this particular drum set. I am a beginning drummer who Has an Acoustic set at Church. I wanted to practice at home but tearing down and lugging an acoustic set of drums home and back every weeek was not going to fly. (and I'm sure my neighbor would not appreciate the loud sound of the drums) So I searched and searched and searched online and at the local music store (who wanted $900 bucks for a similar set) and I made the decision on this one because of the price mainly. I was skeptical at first and kept my receipt and all parts handy just in case i needed to return this and......
The product is great. There are no problems with the wiring or foot pedals or anything. It does not have a "cheap" feeling to it either. physically speaking, it looks like a 500 or even 600 dollar equipment. The only thing that takes it down a notch for me is that you miss having a separate ride pad and crash pad. (they only give you one choice, either a ride or a crash) but fortunately you can buy a separate crash/ride cymbal and install it into the main brain. another disappointment is that it seems that you cannot add a splash cymbal pad if you wanted to. (oh well you can't have it all for this price)
When i practice, i do so in my living room which is not very large. My wife stated that it sounds as if i am striking phone books with drumsticks when i practice with the headphones on. This is a major plus because I have neighbors and i do not want to disturb them with my drumming nor do I want to announce to the neighborhood that I have a drum set in my house. (break-ins) It comes with a port where you can plug in speakers and play out loud also if need be. The variety of sounds are also fun too. I have not ventured deep into what the brain can do but so far I am far form being unimpressed
Even though the price is lower than other drum sets which can cost you 600-1500 and up. This one is not cheaply built. All of the parts and arms and body of the drum set is stable. My curious cats have already tipped it over, but no broken parts or anything like that. Overall I believe that if you are a beginning drummer like myself, this is the perfect low cost quiet set for you.

Ion Cymbal for IED01 and IED04 Review

(More customer reviews)I purchased this cymbal to use on my Ion IED12 Pro Session Drums set that I bought from Costco. It works great for crash cymbal compared to the two cymbals that came with the set. It comes with the 3.5mm (Mini) female which needs to be converted to 1/4-inch one. The space underneath the cymbal doesn't fit the Mini-to-1/4 connector and the male 1/4 from the controller. Therefore, I've to buy the Mini cable extension to avoid the limited space. Overall, it works perfectly with the unit.
