Percussion Plus Bongo Stand Review

Percussion Plus Bongo Stand
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I ordered this product through a different online store but wanted to share a very quick review with you.
I purchased this for use with my LP Matador bongos. These must be the heaviest bongos you can buy. With this stand, I am able to brace them firmly. I can hit them as hard as I need to and thanks to the stand's build and weight, there's no sway or movement. What I am trying to say, in a few words, this is a very solid stand and I did no have to make any special changes to it to work perfectly with my LP's. If you have a different brand of bongo, I cannot comment as to the fit but the bracket is universal and should work well with pretty much any type of bongos.
Compared to other stands I considered (online), this is a very solid buy at a very aggressive price.

Latin Percussion LP234A Afuche/Cabasa Standard Review

Latin Percussion LP234A Afuche/Cabasa Standard
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I think this is the best cabasa available. Having looked at several brands, LP's quality is the best. The wood is cut and finished just so, the chain is exactly the right tension, and the metal surface has just the right texture. The result is a responsive tool that will last and gives a good sound reliably. I like the standard size the best for balance and both weight and sound.
If you've looked at some of the plastic versions on the market, stay away! They just don't have the right sound. That's not an aversion to plastic generally, either, as I have a plastic guiro that I like a lot.
Very pleasant and playable.

This item serves its purpose quite well.... but the only issue is that the arms for the brace could have been 3 inches longer... but the concept is very nice....

I've tried several types but I find this one the best. For some reason the white one sounds better in comparison to same brand different colors; why? I have no idea, it could be just me.
Anyway this is a good product!

LP Set of 4 Rubber Conga Feet Review

LP Set of 4 Rubber Conga Feet

a simple design for the seated player, allows your congas stability, so that you can beat your own drum without the worry of it slipping from between your legs, due to the super-smooth, glossy finishes on most modern conga drums...I have 3 congas and they ALL stand on their own FEET!!

Latin Percussion LP452 Multi Guiro Review

Latin Percussion LP452 Multi Guiro
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This instrument is pretty decent. It has a nice, crisp, sound, and is pretty handy for shakes and 2 different types of scrapes. The only thing that I didn't like is that since they made it to where there is 2 different sides, there is no handle. This causes your hands to cramp after a couple of minutes. Also, since the guiro isn't hollow, it doesn't give it that sound like in bachata or merengue music. This instrument does sound pretty good for its price, and also goes well with some types of cumbias, especially cumbia colombianas and sonideros. If you are more experienced or are going to play in a band, I would recommend upgrading to a more expensive but better guiro.

Latin Percussion Compact Quinto, 11-inch Review

Latin Percussion Compact Quinto, 11-inch
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Why, you may ask, should you buy this little body-less conga, when you can get a "real" conga for about the same price? Well, for one thing, this *is* a real instrument, made by a great company (Latin Percussion) that's going to outlast one of the cheap Asian imported Congas that you'll soon be dissatisfied with. Another is that this is a drum you'll want to keep, for practice and travel, even if you do have a set of custom $600 congas, tumbas, quintos and so forth.
I bought mine as a learning instrument. I've played drums off and on for decades, but never hand drums, and a friend recommended the Compact Conga as a much better choice than the cheap imports I was looking at. He was right. This is a beautiful, solidly made unit that's easy to play and delivers a surprising amount of tone, considering that there's no body. True, you won't get the real deep bass notes of a full-sized conga, but you'll get all the exrpessiveness of a full sized drum. (LP has a video of Giovanni himself playing it on their web site that will demonstrate this for you).
The three raised feet on the bottom of the drum allow it to be played on a table top, but you'll really want a solid snare stand to put it on- something with mass, that can take serious slapping. I suppose you could build a wooden stand if you're handy- just make sure it can take heavy playing without moving about. (Personally, I've been kind of tempted to place it over the end of a Sonotube to hear how it would sound).
For beginners, like myself, this is a great way to learn without investing a lot of money in expensive drums. For experienced players, I think this would be a great practice or travel drum. If you have your own home recording studio, I suspect this would be a great way to add some good conga sounds to your recordings without a huge investment. A fine product, with typical LP quality, and a great value.

Latin Percussion LP243 Super Guiro Review

Latin Percussion LP243 Super Guiro
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the most like a wood or gourd guiro you are going to get. I think they actually have a unique sound of their own, though, and I like it. Neither as hard-sounding as a metal guiro or as uneven as some hand-made guiros can sound, these sit nicely in the mix. They can be played hard or soft. The sound can be varied with different sticks (two provided), and you can also provide some variation by manipulating the thumb holes in the back.
Indestructible is good! Drop it, kick it, toss it across the room or into a band equipment box. Nothing hurts it! I'm not advocating abusing it, but it's good to know it can take it!

Latin Percussion LP1207 Jam Block With Bracket/Medium Pitch Sp Review

Latin Percussion LP1207 Jam Block With Bracket/Medium Pitch Sp
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I highly recommend this Jam Block. I ordered one partially out of curiosity and it works far better than I expected. It looks very cool mounted on top of my hi-hat. I'm most impressed by the volume of the sound it makes, and when hit correctly it can always be heard very clearly over my drumming. Something that I found very helpful when deciding on this block was that you can listen to the sounds that different size blocks make on the manufacture's website. Make sure to listen before you buy so that you can be certain which block you want.

I have been playing shekere for years, looking for the prefect one that dances in my hands and this is it! It is beautifully crafted, it is light and fits in the hand, it has deep resonance sounds just like a gourd, yet it cant break. Jim is an amazing Sherkere player and his love for this instrument is apparent in the way it plays and feels. If you get it, it is worth getting his DVD on how to play. You will have a blast and discover this wonderful and fun musical instrument. Thanks Jim not sure how you created the prefect Shekere but you did!

These are excellent for cutting through the mix. The price was reasonable and the quality was all there as well. Since I do not play percuission in my current band I was reluctant to spend goops of cash for something that is not my forte... These babies fit the bill and I still have money left over for bass strings. These work!

LP World Beat Santana Conga Review

LP World Beat Santana Conga
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This beautifully constructed conga will afford you years of drumming pleasure.
Its fiberglass body results in a durable drum with a sound that is loud enough to carry without amplification in a small- to medium-sized room.
The natural cowhide drum head provides rich and complex tones.
Although technically this might be classified as a requinto due to the 10 inch head size, you will not miss the extra bulk.
Furthermore, this light and compact conga can be placed sideways on the lap and played like the dholak drum that is native to India.
