(More customer reviews)In general this is a quality case, works well enough for my purposes. I have a 5 piece kit, and all of the drum hardware, plus my seat and stick bag fit inside. Don't even have to break down my hi hat stand, which is nice. The internal tray is handy for auxiliary percussion storage.
However, I've used it for a few weeks, about 5 gigs, and already the rubber bumpers on the bottom of the case have broken off. Not a huge deal, but for this kind of cash I'd expect them to last longer. Also, I've had to make a repair/replacement of one of the inside straps. The clasp is quite cheap (plastic), and broke the first time I used it. Replaced it with a metal one from my previous case, which has worked fine.

SKB Mid-Sized Drum Hardware Case with Handle and Wheels Review

(More customer reviews)I've been a gigging drummer for over 40 years and have used practically every type of "stand" case from fiberboard trap cases w/wheels to a soft bag conga case w/wheels. The SKB meduim hardware case with its retractable handle and durable wheels is perfect for the gigging drummer. (You may want the larger case if you want to put your hi-hat stand in there.) I chose the medium size case, so I can load/unload the case by myself. Obviously, the more you bring, the heavier the case.
I also own other SKB cases for both my drum shells and cymbal cases. The SKB cases take a beating and are still in great shape. This case has been so efficient, that I bought another case to store all the PA cables and extension cords.
I bought the first case from BestBuy. I found the second one cheaper on Amazon.com through CSN stores. CSN stores had the best price and shipped directly from the factory.

SKB 1SKB-db1214 Drum Set Cases Review

But now that I only transport my kit (personally) a few times a year, I felt the expense of hard shell cases was simply not justified and decided to take a look at soft-sided drum bags when I purchased my new drum kit. I looked at several different soft case brands but kept coming back to SKB. SKB is widely acclaimed for their injection-molded hard shell cases which are used for many different purposes - including mil-spec applications. Knowing this, I decided to give them a shot...sight unseen. I should have known there was absolutely no risk involved!
SKB's soft drum cases are made with the same quality and attention to detail as their injection molded products. The heavy-duty ballistic nylon outer shell is lined with plush, furry padding that protects my drums' finish beautifully. The dual zippers are robust, yet easy to operate. The cases are sized perfectly to fit drums exactly as ordered - in other words, order the db1822 case and your 18" deep x 22" diameter kick drum will nestle snugly, yet comfortably in the case - no interference from lugs, mounts or spurs and no flopping around inside the case, either. I bought eight SKB bags to house my new pdp X7 maple kit (one extra db1214 to house my vintage Ludwig deep shell snare) and at first it was hard to tell the different sizes apart...until I discovered another nice feature - the case size is embroidered in red thread on the heel of the case. AWESOME!
As you can tell, I am highly pleased with this product and would strongly recommend it to anyone looking to buy soft-shell cases for your drums. FIVE STARS!! And no, I don't work for SKB!

SKB Trap X2 Drum Hardware Case with Built-in Cymbal Vault Review

(More customer reviews)I was very excited to get the TPX2 case but very quickly found that it has a major flaw.
First however, The Good:
-it is a brilliant idea to include cymbal vault on the side of the case - this worked flawlessly.
-i like the carpeted area for the snare
-the wheels are good quality and are lockable
and now, The Bad:
-your hi-hat and cymbal stands will NOT fit in the hardware section!! I suppose I should have understood that this is "a scaled-down trap case" (SKB's description) but because it loads vertically, and your cymbal stands are vertical, the "lift-off hardware tray" will NOT fit. In fact even if you don't use the lift-off tray, where one would presumably put a kick pedal or a stick bag, the closing lid will definitely not fit because most crash stands are too tall! Unless you're putting snare/tom stands in the hardware section you absolutely cannot fit your cymbal stands, even when taking them apart. When I discovered this I laughed out loud and said "YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME."
I'm returning the TPX2 in favor of the TPX1.

SKB 16 X 18 Floor Tom Case with Padded Interior Review

True, the price is a little high, but when you're lugging around a floor tom that is worth 300, you want the case to get the dings and scratches. (And of course, the times when someone actually drops the thing.)
If you're gigging, and you have a kit costing upwards of 1000, I'd say go for it.

Gator Protechtor GP66 Percussion and Lighting Equipment Gig Bag Review

If I had one request for future iterations of this bag, I'd say I'd like to see it made with rigid edges. Still, that's nit-picking......this is a great bag....enough space for the LP Matadors I just bought and a top pocket for? .....a cowbell perhaps....like a true bongocero might carry around. I'm just learning so I may be able to call myself that one day! One last thing, I would have liked to have seen a padded arm-sling piece.....this one is just rubber, but, again, that's nit-picking. Great bongo bag at a great price.....'nuff said.
