(More customer reviews)This is a very high-quality case. Heavy-duty construction throughout, and what I consider a very important feature; the handle is molded into the case half that actually holds the cymbals.
The wheels and the expanding handle are very nice features, as is the small internal bag for holding a drum key or whatever else you want. It also includes 4 cushions to go between cymbals.
There were a few things I didn't like. The sleeve around the center post is too soft, and got mashed down by the nut and mushroomed. When I received it, my cymbals would not even slide over the sleeve. There are features molded into the case to give you a grip to separate the case halves. I think those features are a little on the small side. There is a sharp edge where the strap goes around the outside. This edge had already made a permanent crease in the strap, and it would only be a matter of time before the strap began to fray. The edge should have a chamfer or a radius.
The real deal-breaker for me though is that there are features in the case designed to support the cymbals, and the cymbal bell would go down inside these features. However, my Quick Beat hi-hats have a flat bottom cymbal, so it won't "nest" with the other cymbals. I would have no choice but to put the bottom H.H. cymbal on the top of the stack, and then when I tightened the nut, it would be putting continuous stress on the cymbal, using it to hold in all of the others. In the Zildjian cymbal case I use now, I just put the flat cymbal in first, then all of the others, from large to small. The nut clamps all of the bells, and none of the cymbals are under any tension.
I didn't see any way around this problem with the SKB case, so I had to send it back, unfortunately. I would have liked to have kept it and used it.
