(More customer reviews)Used this beater to replace a wood, ball beater I'd used for 20 years. Used it on a gig where drums were provided and loved the weight, sound, and especially the balance. I'm using the hard felt side of this reversible beater and it delivers a solid whack, with just enough high overtones to offer definition. The balance can be fine tuned via a memory lock-style collar on the beater shaft. The beater provides as much leverage as you'd like, but can be adjusted to also provide very quick feedback on doubles.

The beater in the picture looks waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay smaller than the one I got. Don't get me wrong it's an amazing product if purchased alone. I got two of these for my Axis longboards cz I wasn't getting enough volume for its beaters. I blame DW for not providing a proper description for this product. They should at least mention that two of these WOULD NOT work on a double pedal. They would get stuck together because of the size.
Do not buy 2 of these if you have a double pedal.

Pearl B100DB Duo-Beat Beater Review

(More customer reviews)This thing is great! I was still using my original, round felt head beater that got flattened out of shape. This thing works better and provides 2 impact options. The felt side sounds as good or better than traditional round felt beaters and the hard plastic side gives me a whole new sound and feel, a punchier, slightly louder tone. And it is more responsive when bouncing a couple of 16th notes off the bass drum, in my opinion. It also gives you the ability to quickly change your bass sound for the style of music you are playing at the time. For the price it is a no brainer upgrade. Just do it.
