Uncle Mafufo doumbek video Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My overall impression is that the DVD is the only instructional that I have seen that teaches technique in a way that a beginner will find useful. It's the only one that goes to explain about having a good seating position so the drum rolls back into you so it's stable. Also shows different ways to do the same technique and encourages the viewer to try out different ways. As well the way that the rhythms are taught is very good.
I saw this DVD in the local shop in Sydney and bought it out of curiousity. I had resisted buying it on the internet because his website gave me the impression he was arrogant. But upon watching the DVD he presents as quite a friendly and personable guy. Also provides some interesting insights into how rhythms are structured.

Schalloch Aluminum Darbuka 8 Inches Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)If you've ever considered wanting to learn Darbuka or are looking for a reasonably priced goblet drum with a price that might seem like a steal, this drum is exactly it. Had I known this drum was being sold at this price years ago I would've been rattling and rolling my fingers over the drum head of this wonderful instrument long ago!
I was skeptic at first that a drum that I've heard and learned so much about could go for a price like this without some kind of repercussions of it being faulty or something similar of the sort-- I was wrong! This drum is fabulous, despite the fact that there are known 'professional' darbukas out there that exist, this is still a wonderful instrument at an amazing price that won't disappoint.
It offers great range of sound with sharp, resonant 'teks' and heavy, bass-filled 'doums' and rimshots on this piece come out clear, crisp and loud.
Though I may acquire several 'upperclass' darbukas along the way, I honestly believe this drum alone is going to be a long favored item by me, as it was and always will be the reason I got into darbukas and hand drums to begin with. It's served me well, still serves me well and if there's any doubt in your mind about this drum, relinquish such thoughts because this drum will not disappoint you.Users Note: Remember to tune the head ever so often, as punishing blows with average use will hinder the drum and you'll notice it by the way it sounds. The drum will begin to sound muted, dull, a little bland but give the drum a good tightening of the heads and you're back to base one with sheer bliss of this drum's outstanding quality.
A mind-blowing purchase, really.

Remo Pretuned Diane Doumbek Ceramic Review

(More customer reviews)The best $70 i ever spent. This thing lets me express myself freely. Great for rap beats and solo drumming. The sound on it is flawless. Grogeous construction. And since its ceramic its rugged.

Tycoon Percussion Dancing Drum Series 9 Inch Djembe Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)My new favorite drum. Period. I have a conga set, a couple doumbeks, some pan-drums, and a really cool 14" djembe but none compare to this guy. I've been a percussionist for over 10 years and when I got my tax return I bought a few drums and I am completely blown away by this guy.
This thing is almost bomb-proof too. Very solid and heavy, probably a 1" thick wood core.
The range of sounds, and it's volume is what blew me away though. This is absolutely professional quality. The tones are much richer and the head is much more responsive than my drums that cost three-times more. I couldn't believe the sound coming from a somewhat smaller sized djembe.
If you are considering this djembe, stop it, just get it. I'd bet my drum collection this one quickly becomes your favorite. If you are a beginner, get it, this djembe will get you hooked.

Meinl Aluminum Doumbeks, 8 1/2- 17 1/8 hand hammered Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)I have ordered several aluminum and the copper doumbeks. I would rate them based on their sound quality as follows:
1) Wood covered aluminum
2) Vinyl covered aluminum
3) Copper
4) Bare aluminum
The bare aluminum versions are relatively the worst of them all.

(More customer reviews)This is the replacement head for a Doumbek I bought a dozen years ago- after installing it and tuning it, it sounds as great as the original (which lasted a dozen years of camping and abuse)

Trophy Bodhran 14 in Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)This drum seems to have a nice tone to it, and it's obvious that the head is made from real animal skin... at some point I need to shave the hairs off it! (ick) Seems to be very sturdy, too.

Toca SFMTDK-9AB Doumbek Aztec Review

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)The photo on Amazon is wrong, as this drum model (SFMTDK-9AB) is not the Glued, Tucked Head version shown. There is a 1/4" space under the head on the mechanically tuned version, the head looks lifted. This is not a big deal for me at all, I prefer the mechanically tuned version, but those buying this drum for aesthetic purposes only could be disappointed.
That said, this doumbek is very nice. It is also very light which is nice if you need to transport it often. The head, as would be expected from most Toca products, is very clean and responsive...there is some rich bass too that isn't too difficult to "find".
I'm not going to say this is my favorite drum in my collection, but I am very pleased with it. I would buy it again and recommend it to others.
