(More customer reviews)Yes It's an Evans and a quality product that delivers the sound you want. In that respect, you could not ask for a better low resonance damp head. After may types of heads I like this best. Live and recorded it is a perfect 10 ... but depending on how much you play, it may only last less than a year before it rips in half on it's own! But this is a front head!! Nothing touches it. A simple google search will confirm it is a known pattern failure on drum forums. In fact the instructions from Evans enclosed with the head say it will break if the foam ring is not used. However, good luck with that, the foam rings don't always stay in place, and eventually it falls apart and you have to replace it. I've even tried using a flexible light amount of contact cement to aid holding the dampner in place - it still breakes. I even have a video of me playing a gig with the ring flopping around. Ok so the ring are flaky, after that then the entire head breaks!!! I contacted Evans through support....No response. To make matters worse, Replacing this head cost a small fortune as I had custom graphic on the front head. So now I'm my last Evans Emad front head. I have since mounted my D112 mic inside the the drum, and waiting for the head to grenade and rip in half - just a matter of time. I will then switch to a solid head with no hole, however I will be an Aquarian head as most drummers have suggested (thank you very much!). I Love the way the Emad looks and sounds, but hate the fact that they are selling a defective product and do not back it up, refine it or help you through their support dept. Bottom line is, what good is a killer sound, if it is unreliable. I only want to worry about what I'm playing at a show, not about weather the head will make it through a show or a ring is going to fall off, that is unacceptable & unpro.
