This is probably my second most favorite stick and the one I'd choose if I had an endorsement deal with any maker.
It's basically the classic 7A design with a round bead (identical in profile to the Vic Firth American Sound 7A), but being made of maple, it's so much faster in your fingers.
The upside is that you can whip around the kit effortlessly and faster than you ever did before. The downside is that you can't hit as hard, as the maple is too light to absorb much impact (you'll feel your hands gradually getting pummeled if you play hard for an extended period).
Being this light and with a round bead, it has a nice, dry, trebly-bright sound, making it especially good for hi-hat and ride patterns and precise playing. The tip lasts longer than Regal's hickory Ping but not anywhere near as long as Regal's Maple 8A (my favorite stick) or other hickory 7As. Every Vater stick I have played has been ramrod straight and consistently weighted/balanced.
If I could improve upon the Sugar Maple Sweet Ride, it would be to offer a lacquered version to make it easier to grip. The coating they currently use is velvety smooth and somewhat slippery.
