The super thin kick pad helps protect your bass drum batter head where the beater strikes without compromising the sound. It takes a little ring out, but not much. I don't put anything in my bass drum for muffling with the exception of felt strips, and this super thin kick pad is a perfect choice if you want to give your skin more life with very little to no "clicking" sound that may occur with thicker kick pads. The feel is also quite good on these super thin pads because they don't take away the feel of the pedal's beater on the skin.
