(More customer reviews)First, I want to thank Vater and Amazon for offering these sticks for such a great price! I was able to order 2 pairs of them for only $4 a pair and, so far, they've been well worth it!
I took a serious look at these sticks because of their price (real important to me) and their size (super important to me as well).
I usually play either Pro-Mark Carter Beauford's or Pro-Mark 474s with nylon tip, but when I came across these sticks on Amazon for only $4 (at the time), I did some comparisons and found that their size differences were miniscule, I decided to give them a try. When I got them, they felt great in my hands. I like to wrap my sticks and decided to try Vater's Grip Tape (I normally use Ahead's Grip tape), so I wrapped them and then they felt even better in my hands. Excellent grip and balance throughout each stick, which I was hoping for and happy that I found!
I play at church and they played great for my first full practice and service, but one of the nylon tips did break off during the service! LOL! Actually, as much as I love to play with nylon tips, I don't think that I'll be using them anymore. I think it's time to switch to wood tips, mainly so that my tips will last longer! LOL! This isn't a problem with them sticks, though...just my hard playing.
If you don't break nylon tips very often, then I recommend these sticks for you. I really like them and may order more pairs with nylon tips and wooden tips. I'm also trying some other Vater models from Amazon because, if you have a Prime account, you get free shipping and Amazon has TONS of great, name brand sticks for sale that are less then $4 a pair! It's win-win for me!
Anyway, I say give these sticks a try if you want something in between a 5A or 5B size with a great feel.
