(More customer reviews)Two of these showed up at my door - soon to find out I accidentally ordered a coated & a clear 22" version. I tried the coated on the batter first. It represented the perfect "rockNroll" bass drum sound resonance - but had a bit of a papery attack - so I switched it out for the clear version. Almost perfect! The attack still seemed to be a bit prominent though - so I came to the conclusion that I might need to switch out my bass drum beater for one with a softer head in order to achieve exactly what I was after. So that's what I did. I'm waiting on a "Tama 6713Felt beater" that has the more classic beater design (medium soft, head shaped like marshmallow). This should soften the attack a bit & should make the Remo Powerstroke 3 head an almost perfect addition to my maple 22" bass drum. I have considered my drum set to be pretty troublesome, "difficult to tune out overtones & tune in resonance". I've tried allot of different heads & tuning methods as well as gimmicks to make my drum set sound right. Bit by bit I've found things that work while ruled out things that haven't. For example: I figured that the Powerstroke 3 might also work well as a resonant head. Maybe some people would like it - but I felt it to be too much of a resonant dampener & have since ordered a regular new Remo Ambassador for the resonant. By the way, I'm also using a felt strip placed all the way at the bottom of the batter on the outside of the PS3 head. This combination as made for a almost perfect traditional rock bass drum sound. Hope this helps...
