I have been a fan of Sound Percussion hardware because it provides a lot of bang for your buck, but I became dis-enchanted with my SP Hi-Hat. I use a set of Sabian B8 14" hi-hat cymbals and the spring tension of the SP was sluggish, so I did my research and decided to order up this Pearl H900. I am familiar with Pearl hardware from my past experiences and I already own a 900 series snare stand. Pearl hardware just flat out makes me happy. It's well thought out and well executed and the prices are, dare I say, cheap? Fair is a better word (don't want Amazon to raise prices cuz of me!).
About the product, it is extremely well built, and the heaviest in it's price point. I looked at everything between $80 and $120, Vex Pro Touring to DW 3000 Series, Ymamha, etc, and I always came back to this model.
One thing I want to point out, and this information is hard to find, the legs DO SWIVEL TO PROVIDE GREAT SPACE FOR YOUR SLAVE BASS PEDAL!!! The spring tension is excellent straight out of the box, the clutch is nice and grippy, the chrome plating is perfect. The tubes used to construct this hi-hat are heavy gauge, and quite tall if need be. Also included is a memory lock so she sets up the same every time.
Overall, I would rate this stand 6 stars if I could. It looks like I will be happily using this for years to come.
