(More customer reviews)I purchased this pack to complement my brand new set of Sabian AAX cymbals, which I love to death, and thinking I would be best served by sticking with the same manufacturer. I didn't realize it when I ordered these, but the methodology behind these mutes is a supposedly reusable adhesive backing on thick neoprene strips. The problem with this is, as it turns out, when you remove these things, they leave behind a ton of the adhesive, along with little chunks of the neoprene. I have tried everything to get get it off and I can't...from rubbing and scrubbing, to using proper cymbal cleaner, and no dice.
The moral of the story is, the brand new pride and joy of my drum kit (hats and four cymbals) have been permanently ruined with a layer of concrete adhesive.
On top of this, two of them tore in half when I removed them. I remind you that these are supposedly designed to be reused. I am tremendously disappointed in this product, particularly from a manufacturer as great as Sabian, whose cymbals I love.
While attached, they do their job relatively well, insofar as they certainly mute your cymbals. I found it to be overkill, however, as they completely neuter your cymbals and remove any sound or reverberation.
After having done some more research at the local store, there are much better options out there from Vic Firth and HQ, which use a different attachment principal (usually a single piece that attaches to the stem of your stand).
I hope that Sabian will work to revamp this item. Do not repeat my mistake and blindly buy this item.
