(More customer reviews)These stick are pretty polarizing: Either you love them or you hate them. I just retired a pair that I had played for over 100 4-hour shows (no exaggeration). Yes, they lost some of their rebound as I slowly wore them down but so do wood sticks. It is true that I had a pair where the tip broke off at the first gig, but that was ONCE and I've played through a few pairs of these now. So even if we looked at it from a very conservative standpoint, take the average amount of playing time I am getting out of a pair of Carbosticks, I would estimate it at 200 hours. Try that with wood. Just to put it in perspective, I am not a super heavy hitter but I am playing pop and rock for crowds of 100-300 bar/club patrons on a regular basis so I can't limp around either.
Pros:
Durability, ability to absorb or wick away sweat, nearly undetectable dust throw-off (as opposed to wood chips all over your gear).
Cons:
Price (though the deal I got on Amazon for multiple pairs was amazing), the occasional bad tip, rim shots definitely sound better with a good wood stick.
The only reason why I didn't give them 5 stars was that they don't really have a model with my favorite dimensions and the fact that I did snap the tip so quickly on that one stick.
