(More customer reviews)It does exactly what it says it will: it mutes the cymbal, and it mutes it completely. Apply it to the bottom of the cymbal so the playing surface isn't affected. This is what you want if you're looking to practice by yourself in an apartment or any other place where noise is an issue. If you're looking to reduce the noise level but keep the sound then go for the Sabian Sound Shapers.
